"God Of War" was first revealed by Sony during E3 2016. This latest project from the Japanese electronics and entertainment giant has been anticipated to be released sometime this year. For the longest time, fans have not heard anything about the game, and the recent listing of the game's release again sparked interests.

Release date listed

"God of War" is one of the company's potential big release for the PlayStation 4 this year. With a very vague Release Date, a recent listing from a Portuguese retailer is making a buzz in the gaming world right now.

According to the post made by Gaming Replay on its official website, Sony's big title will be released on September 14, 2017, on PlayStation 4.

The listing could indeed be a potential release. If the release date is accurate, it will follow the release of another big game "Uncharted: the Lost Legacy" scheduled to be available to gamers on August 25. The September release date will give the Japanese company a leading edge in the holiday season. Also, this will provide them with enough clearance for the release of "Spider-Man" from Insomniac granted that it will be available this year. The date, however, does not seem to be the usual placeholder as usually, game releases fall on the last day of the month.

However, the release date listed by the retailer falls on a Thursday and not the anticipated Tuesday traditional release. Several reports claim that the listed date is mainly for the European gaming market. In this light, it is possible that for the US, the game might be available starting September 12, a Tuesday and September 14 for the Europeans.

E3 2017 reveal

Sony has not made a comment about this most recent news on the release date of the game. Speculations recently claim that "God of War" and its release might be announced during the company's E3 2017 press release. For now, the given date is still a speculation unless confirmed by the company.

As previously reported, the upcoming "Game of War" will introduce a whole new approach to the previous game.

The anticipation build-up from the fans has been expected since it was launched last year. Speculations have it that the game will tackle the Norse pantheon and will take up whole new, different locations. Aside from that, new characters will be introduced. Among the highly anticipated highlights of the game are Kratos having a new son, the non-inclusion of Blades of Olympus, and Kratos' giving up several of his cruel manners.
