Just four days away from the beginning of the early signing period, Nebraska is trying to come as close as possible to finishing up its 2019 class. While they might not be able to get everyone to sign early, I think that they are hoping they will get enough that there will only be a few holes left to fill in February. While the team looks toward adding players like Lloyd Summerall and Ty Robinson, they are also wanting to hold onto players that have already committed.

That's why a brand new offer to Matthew Anderson from Kansas State can't be a welcome bit of news. Nebraska is one of the final three schools trying to get Summerall, and I think Robinson is close to signing with them.

Kansas State trying to make a splash

While the Nebraska football team is attempting to lock down a recruiting class that is currently inside the top 20 (in some polls), Kansas State is attempting to start over, almost from scratch. Bill Snyder has stepped down for the second time, and this time, likely for good. In his place, the Wildcats have hired Chris Klieman. The former North Dakota State head coach has had plenty of success at the FCS level.

Now, he'll be looking to bring that success to the FBS level, as well.

It looks like one of the ways he's going to start winning, at Kansas State, is by making sure the Wildcats are going after some big-bodied offensive linemen. Matthew Anderson does indeed fit that bill, though it is a bit surprising he's on Kansas State's radar. The 6-6, 250-pound lineman hails from Louisiana, and it was a bit of a surprise that Nebraska found him and managed to lure him out of his home region. Now, it appears Kansas State is looking to piggyback on the work Scott Frost and company did, and try and get Matthew Anderson to go even further into the Midwest region.

Nebraska football likely feels confident

While it's always a struggle when another school attempts to poach a commit, the Huskers are likely feeling fine about their chances to keep Matthew Anderson on board.

He's been a very solid commit since he first took the pledge in June.

Just in case, the Husker coaching staff has been keeping in close contact with the offensive lineman. It's true that they need all the help they can get up front. It would not only be embarrassing to lose a player at this point, but it would be especially bad to lose an offensive lineman so close to the early signing period. In order to keep tabs on Anderson and make sure he understands how much Nebraska wants him, Ryan Held recently went and paid a visit. Husker fans hope that visit shored up his commitment, ahead of signing day.
