As the Nebraska football coaching staff ramps up its recruiting now that the season is over, the staff are heading all over the country on official visits. It turns out that one of those official visits is Ryan Held visiting a player some Husker fans was completely off the board. Ryan Held was reported to have paid a visit to Wandale Robinson on Tuesday night. Robinson had been thought to be a near lock to be a Husker commit late last month.

Then, the day before his commitment he changed course and decided he was committing to the Kentucky Wildcats.

Gossip surrounding Wandale Robinson

After Robinson announced his change in the favorite team, there were more than a few people who believed something shady was afoot. Rumors that Kentucky had paid or offered some sort of gift to the prospect ran rampant. There was even one story that after the Wildcats made an offer, a member of Robinson's family called Nebraska football head coach Scott Frost on the phone and asked him if he was going to be able to top the offer.

The story continued that because Frost did not know who the person on the other end of the phone was, he abruptly hung up.

This story circulating seemed to be a hint that the Cornhuskers were completely done going after the all-purpose back, despite the fact that he is likely one of the most talented players that was still on Nebraska's board. It appears at the very least that the rumors that Frost had decided to cut Wandale Robinson loose completely were not true. HIs would-be position coach was in town to see and talk to the Kentucky commit and Frost is supposed to be following up that visit in the near future.

Nebraska football hoping to swing some misses

It certainly makes some sense as to why the team might think they can still steal Wandale Robinson. The running back had been having some issues focusing on which school he really wanted to go to.

He had even made a video that was used to announce the school he would be announcing and he had a few schools included in that list that most people already thought he had dismissed. There is also the factor that Kentucky has had a bit of a tough go of it since he announced he was going to be a part of the Wildcats' recruiting class. One current player made it clear the fan support for the program wasn't what he wanted. He even talked about the fan support of Nebraska football being the standard for what other fans should be trying to live up to. If Ryan Held was able to begin convincing Robinson of that, the fight might not be over after all.
