Anthony Davis is a New Orleans Pelicans power forward, which the Boston Celtics were linked to for a long time. He recently stated that he wants to be a part of a winning culture. Now the Boston Celtics are reportedly ready to make a run at him in a near future. I used a blog report from Give Me Sport for much of the material in this article.

Anthony is under contract through the 2020-21 NBA season, and this would probably require Boston Celtics to give up Al Horford to match salaries of their players.

However, this trade will hardly happen if the Celtics sign Marcus Smart, Jaylen Brown, and Terry Rozier in the next few years.

The Boston Celtics are the top-seeded team in the East and are built to stay there, but an elite power forward like Anthony Davis could be a great addition to the team.

The new great duo? (Anthony Davis and Kyrie Irving)

Anthony Davis is certainly a top five big man in the league, averaging 27 points and 10.6 rebounds per game this season and being a four-time All-Star. Davis is a great asset to his current team, however, he has only appeared in the playoffs one time, and without DeMarcus Cousins, New Orleans' chances of getting that far are slim.

Kyrie Irving and Davis could really complement each other, in terms of Kyrie assisting him and Anthony Davis filling in on defense. Kyrie is currently averaging 24.9 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 5.0 assist per game and is leading his team to the playoffs.

Anthony Davis’s other options?

Considering that Anthony would fetch a large price on the trade market, there are not many teams other than Celtics that could seriously consider taking Davis away from the Pelicans. The Los Angeles Lakers are one of those teams. Bleacher Report’s Dan Favale has suggested the Lakers could maybe offer Brandon Ingram, Jordan Clarkson, Corey Brewer, Kyle Kuzma, Julius Randle, and a 2020 first-round pick for Ian Clark, Alexis Ajinca, and Anthony Davis.

It would be great for the Lakers to have Davis because it could be a good lure for the future free agents.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are the second potential team. As Davis himself stated that most important thing to him is winning, and with the Celtics interested, the Cavaliers could also try to go for Davis. However, this trade is the least likely to happen, but we saw what happened with Kyrie Irving, so everything is possible as long as the right assets are involved.

The Cleveland Cavaliers could offer Kevin Love, Channing Frye, and maybe Brooklyn Nets' 2018 draft pick. A new big three of Cleveland (Isaiah Thomas, LeBron, and Davis) could be the best one in the Eastern Conference.
