Derrick Rose has had a rough start to the 2017-18 season, missing the majority of his games due to a lingering ankle injury, and it seemed to take a big toll on the 28-year old point guard. After facing many ups and downs throughout his hall of fame worthy NBA career, D-Rose decided to sign a one-year minimum contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers in hope to do something he has dreamt of doing his whole career, and that’s to win a championship.
The Cavaliers spent the last three years in the NBA Finals, so as a free agent the Cavs caught Rose’s attention. But even though Cleveland are on an 11-game winning streak, things aren’t all so well in Northeast Ohio.
Derrick Rose recently decided to take a break from the Cavaliers Team, that includes their players and coaching staff. This happened just shortly after Rose’s minor ankle injury was reported to have him out of action for roughly two weeks. It was at this time when it was reported that Mr. Rose is battling personal issues and wants to take a break from the team. With no timetable for his return, just support from his teammates, coaches, and fans, we didn’t know when he may come back to the team.
But a recent report has given us the news we’ve been waiting for.
Rose will return to the team
The most recent report on Derrick Rose has been released and it is revealed that he has been in contact with the Cavaliers general manager about his desire to return to the team. When Rose told the Cavs he needed some time about a week or two ago, fans of the Cavs around the world were concerned as Derrick holds huge importance to the team’s success. The 2011 NBA MVP has not been in contact with the Cavaliers coaching staff or players in the time he has had off, but it looks like he will be back to the team very soon.
The Cavaliers have been playing great ball recently on both the offensive and defensive end, going 11-1 since D-Rose last played.
So the all-star level point guard will be hoping to mesh well with the team and help to keep the win streak going.
When will he play?
Although Derrick Rose will probably get back to practicing with LeBron James and the team now, he will be unlikely to play in their next few games. Rose is still recovering from his ankle injury, although his eagerness to get back to the team could indicate he feels good about his ankle.
The Cavs next few games include matchups against the Chicago Bulls, on the road against the Sacramento Kings and then a game back home against the young Indiana Pacers squad.
