J.D. Martinez and Yu Darvish are two of the biggest names out there on the MLB free agency market but don't expect them to jump to a new team anytime soon. Several MLB rumors are swirling around these two guys and with good reason. J.D. Martinez has developed into one of the best hitters in the game today, and despite Darvish's poor performance in Game 7 of the World Series, he has been a much better than average pitcher his entire career. These two are going to get a nice payday soon, now the only question is where and when it will happen.

Martinez to Red Sox?

J.D. Martinez is the true rags to riches story. Martinez came up through the Houston Astros’ farm system but wasn’t impressive enough for the Astros to want to keep him in the fold. The Tigers picked Martinez up on a minor league deal, and he went on to become a star. From 2014-2017 J.D. put up numbers that will earn him the big bucks. His .300/.361/.551 stat line with 99 home runs during that span opened many eyes across the league.

Detroit decided to give up on their team in 2017 and traded everyone away, including Martinez. J.D. was dealt to the Diamondbacks this past July, where he went on to hit 29 home runs in 62 games. Martinez went on to finish with a career-high 45 dingers in 2017, and now he will most likely get a $100 million payday.

According to several reports, including NESN, Red Sox GM Dave Dombrowski is very interested in signing Martinez. The two have a history going back to their Detroit days and Martinez would bring that extra pop the Red Sox need in the middle of the lineup.

Yu Darvish is also in line for a bigger payday. Darvish has had a great career so far and now he will be looking to join a team that is need of a No.

2 or 3 starter. MLB Trade Rumors is indicating that if the Dodgers decide to move on from Darvish, the Chicago Cubs, Philadelphia Phillies, Washington Nationals, St. Louis Cardinals, Houston Astros, and Minnesota Twins could all be potential suitors.

After Yuli Gurriel mocked Darvish following his home run and the fact that they just traded for Justin Verlander, it is doubtful that the Astros will get in the Darvish sweepstakes.

Tigers interested in Baltimore's Chris Tillman?

The Tigers are looking like a minor league squad compared to their 2017 roster, however, you have to believe that with Ron Gardenhire in charge that will change. According to blog Bless You Boys, Tillman may be on the Tigers' radar. The rumor is Detroit may offer Tillman a one-year, $10 million deal this offseason. Tillman is coming off of a disappointing 2017 season, so it will be interesting to see if Baltimore attempts to re-sign him or just lets him walk.

Tillman was 1-7 with an ERA north of 7.00 in 2017, however, his career record is 73-55.
