Derrick Rose's career has had many ups and down and NBA fans can't help but wonder how good he would be if it wasn't for the ACL injury he suffered five years ago. Rose was one of the deadliest guards in the league and 2011, he became the youngest player in NBA history to win Most Valuable Award. Unfortunately, just a year later, the Point Guard suffered a devastating injury that completely changed his career.

After the injury, Rose was forced to miss the entire 2012/13 season and he only appeared in 10 games in 2013/14 season. In 2016, he was traded to the New York Knicks, the team he played 64 games for.

This summer, the former MVP became a free agent and he decided to sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Rose accepted a $2.1 million deal to play for the reigning Eastern Conference champions, and it seems that he's finally found the right place for himself.

Derrick Rose and his last season

After Derrick Rose joined the Knicks last year, it seemed he could finally bounce back and become a better player. While it was clear that he would never be the same player he was before the injury, a change of scenery was a good move for the point guard. However, the Knicks turned out to be a really bad team and they had one of the worst records in the league.

On the other side, Rose had a solid season and he averaged 18.0 points per game, which was his highest scoring average since the injury.

Beside scoring, Rose grabbed 3.8 rebounds per game and dished out 4.4 assists on average. He shot relatively efficiently from the field, making 47.1 percent of his shots.

Even though he still struggled with injuries, Derrick Rose managed to post some solid stats and that is one of the reasons why the Cavaliers were interested in him.

In late July, the two sides agreed to a contract as Rose officially became a Cavalier.

Rose's comments about the Cavaliers

Rose is obviously happy and excited to be in Cleveland. While his role won't be significant, he will be on a championship contender for the first time in his career. Considering that he isn't as athletic or as good as he was before, the point guard will most likely benefit from his role in Cleveland, and it doesn't seem that he minds it.

"This is the best team I've ever played on," Rose told reporters a few days ago. He added that the Cavaliers create more space on the floor than he's ever seen before.

The Cavaliers definitely have a great team and Rose should fit in well. While winning a championship will be very hard, this Cleveland team is much better than it was last season and they have a good chance of beating the Golden State Warriors and winning it all.
