The Houston Rockets beat the Golden State Warriors 122-121. Top scorers of the recent game were James Harden for the Rockets and Stephen Curry for the Warriors. Harden led the Rockets’ to victory with 27 points, six rebounds, and 10 assists. Stephen Curry, on the other hand, had 22 points, five rebounds, and four assists for the Warriors. The Warriors had the lead through the first three-quarters of the game but ended up blowing an 11-point lead as the Rockets bounced back in the last quarter, ending the game with one point win.
Kevin Durant almost sealed the victory
Kevin Durant almost sealed the win for Golden State last night with his final shot, but the referee decided it was not the "buzzer-beater" that the Warriors hoped it might be. Still, Durant played an impressive game with 20 points, five rebounds, seven assists and four blocked shots. The 29-year-old veteran went 7-of-25 from the field, 2-of-5 from the three-point line, and 4-of-5 from the free throw line. While Durant had a productive stat line, some analysts view the 20-point game from the 10-year NBA player, as a bit of a disappointment. Since his debut in the NBA, he has averaged 27.2 points per game in the regular season and 28.8 points during the playoffs.
Chris Paul did not play well because of knee soreness
Chris Paul posted four points, 11 assists, eight rebounds, two steals, and one block in last night’s victory over the Warriors. Paul's rebound and assist sums turned a subpar, outing into a respectable night fantasy-wise. The 32-year-old veteran was obviously going through some issues with a knee injury, which kept him from playing longer on the court. Coach Mike D’Antoni benched the veteran player down the stretch in the fourth quarter, despite him beginning the fourth quarter with some clutch shots and a flurry of assists. Chris Paul is expected to be better by Wednesday and will be able to play against the Sacramento Kings.
James Harden double-doubles in season opener
It was an impressive performance by his standards, as James Harden took on point guard duties while Chris Paul was resting his sore knee. The addition of Chris Paul to Houston's backcourt doesn't seem to have an effect on Harden's usual modus operandi, which is posting impressive stat lines. Harden is expected to lead again the team this Wednesday against the Sacramento Kings. Can Harden and Paul lead the Houston Rockets to a 2-0 record to open the 2017-18 NBA season?
