If there's anyone in the NBA who's feeling exactly the way Gordon Hayward feels right now, it's Cleveland Cavaliers' isaiah thomas. According to the boston.com, Thomas felt the connection between him and Hayward despite being unable to play in the same team. In his Twitter post, Thomas addressed the injury as something minor for a major comeback and that he is praying for his speedy recovery.

G's decision to move to Boston

Isaiah Thomas played a major role in recruiting Gordon Hayward for the Boston Celtics.

In his article on The Player's Tribune, Hayward explained why he chose the Celtics during free agency. "There was the amazing potential of this current Celtics team — from ownership to the front office, to a talented roster with Isaiah, and Al, and everyone else," Hayward said. His decision to join the team came prior to the blockbuster trade that brought Kyrie Irving to Celtics and Isaiah Thomas to Cleveland.

According to ESPN's Brian Windhorst, Isaiah Thomas and LeBron James at different times visited Hayward in the locker room where he was getting treatment shortly after he was taken away on a stretcher.

Update on the injury

Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics, through its official Twitter account confirmed that Gordon Hayward indeed dislocated and fractured his left tibia and requires surgery.

With the team not speculating on a timetable, Gordon needs to undergo immediate surgery but with no confirmed date so far. Coach Stevens, however, is confident that Hayward will make a full recovery.

That said, the Celtics need to restructure its lineup and has assigned Marcus Smart to take the place of Hayward. Smart will play alongside Kyrie Irving, Al Horford, Jason Tatum, and Jaylen Brown.

WBZ-TV health reporter Dr. Mallika Marshall said: "Some experts are saying that depending on how severe it is, he might be able to make it back before the end of the season. Time will tell." Hayward broke his ankle trying to deliver an alley-oop from Kyrie Irving during the Cavs vs. Celtics game on opening night. He was immediately attended by a medical team and taken from the court on a stretcher once his leg was secured.

The Boston Celtics have yet to announce the latest update on Hayward's injury. Meanwhile, the team succumbed to the Milwaukee Bucks in their second game after facing the Cavs. They hope to break their 0-2 losing streak against the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday, October 21, 2017.
