Could a WWE women's "Royal Rumble" match take place at the next installment of the pay-per-view? That could be the case as WWE rumors are indicating the match is in the works for the 2018 "Royal Rumble" PPV. This could be a major development for the ongoing "Women's Revolution" of the WWE. Here are the latest details on what's going on as far as this match is concerned.

What's the deal?

Just recently, the Pop Culture.com website indicated that Wrestling Observer Radio has said WWE is considering a women's edition of the popular "Royal Rumble" elimination match. The match would feature 15 women competing at the pay-per-view in Philadelphia in 2018.

If it happens, this would be another history-making match for the women's division. At the WWE "Hell in a Cell" pay-per-view last year, Charlotte and Sasha Banks competed over the women's championship inside a Hell in a Cell match. A first-ever steel cage match took place on "SmackDown Live" for the women's title in the main event between Alexa Bliss and Becky Lynch.

There's also been a women's table match between the two and Bliss competed in another PPV in a women's Kendo Stick match. The WWE "SmackDown Live" women's roster also made history with the first two "Money in the Bank" women's ladder matches this past year.

15 participants?

Between the WWE "Raw" and "SmackDown Live" rosters there are a good number of women's competitors. In addition, WWE can draw from women on their NXT and UK rosters as well as competitors from the recent Mae Young Classic.

One would have to think the match would be similar to the men's version of the match with the winner getting to challenge for one of the two women's championships. Some of the women's superstars who one might expect to see would include Charlotte, Sasha Banks, Alexa Bliss, Naomi, Carmella, Natalya, Mickie James, Becky Lynch, Nia Jax, and Tamina.

A few women's superstars who have yet to debut on the main roster but are expected to are Asuka and Ronda Rousey. Asuka will show up at the "TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs" pay-per-view while Rousey has yet to be announced. However, these two women's stars may be early favorites to win this sort of match.

If Charlotte is able to gain the WWE "SmackDown" Women's title, then fans might expect Ronda Rousey to win the match and get a shot at Charlotte for the title at "WrestleMania 34." It would set up another huge first-time match for the women's division.
