The WWE's "Royal Rumble 2018" is still months away, but there are already rumors going around as to who might win and who will be in the main event at "WrestleMania 33." Before the "Rumble" even comes about, a huge match is on the way involving two of the biggest superstars in the company, both of whom are a part of WWE's "Monday Night Raw." Many fans are wondering who will win the John Cena vs. Roman Reigns match that is on the way. Could this also be a future "WrestleMania" matchup, or will one of these two stars win the "Royal Rumble" match to headline "Mania" in 2018?
Current 'Rumble' odds
Even though the "Rumble" match isn't until January and the participants aren't really known, that doesn't stop various sportsbooks from posting odds for possible winners. As it stands, the Irish sportsbook Paddy Power has listed odds for who will win in 2018 and there's a tie at the top of the list.
Both John Cena and Roman Reigns are tied for first-place with 9 to 4 odds to win. It shows the uncertainty over which of these premier stars might win. WWE has been rumored to want to keep pushing Reigns and a big match versus Brock Lesnar for the title on "the grandest stage of them all" could do that next year. They also are looking to give Cena that record-breaking title win that will help him surpass Ric Flair in the history books.
"WrestleMania" would seem to be the place to showcase such a moment.
Also near the top of the list are AJ Styles at 7 to 2 odds, Seth Rollins at 6 to 1 odds, Braun Strowman/Samoa Joe at 10 to 1 odds, and Finn Balor/Shinsuke Nakamura at 12 to 1 odds. All of these superstars seem like great picks to win the match for the first time in their careers and probably deserve that achievement as well.
There are about 100 or more names on the odds listing including everyone from Hulk Hogan to CM Punk to Triple H and Ronda Rousey. A few long shots are also being listed. They include guys that probably won't see their way into the ring, but one never knows. Among them are President Donald Trump at 750 to 1 odds, Vin Diesel at 250 to 1 odds, and former president Barack Obama at 1000 to 1 odds.
Cena vs. Reigns
Fans will be treated to the epic first-ever in-ring battle between the two top stars in the company at WWE's "No Mercy." That PPV is scheduled for Sunday, September 24th in Los Angeles, California. The match could go either way, but one has to think that Cena is helping to put over newer stars to help the future of the company. He has recent wins over Rusev and Baron Corbin, but also helped put over Shinsuke Nakamura to get him into the main event picture against Jinder Mahal.
There are rumors that after this feud with Reigns, the WWE free agent Cena may head back over to "SmackDown Live" to take on Jinder Mahal for his WWE Championship. What happens between Cena and Mahal, as well as other top stars on that roster could tell the story as WWE moves towards the "Royal Rumble" but it's still months away.
For now, it seems that Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar will probably remain in the plans for WWE's next "WrestleMania" main event.
The "Royal Rumble 2018" takes place on Sunday, January 28th, 2018 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Which superstar should win the match to go on to headline "WrestleMania 34" in New Orleans?
