The 2017-18 season is just around the corner, and teams around the league are organizing their players to be ready to go for the new season in just a few weeks. Media day has just concluded, and training camp is getting going for all 30 teams around the league. With the slight changes Adam Silver made to the length of the season, we will see the NBA preseason commence at the start of October, and the NBA season starts just 2-3 weeks after that.

What makes this upcoming season a unique one is the superstar arrangements in the league that have occurred due to players deciding to sign with new teams, and huge trade’s going down. Superteams are seemingly everywhere now, with superstar players including Carmelo Anthony, Paul George, Chris Paul, Kyrie Irving, Isaiah Thomas, Dwyane Wade, Derrick Rose, Dwight Howard, Jimmy Butler, Paul Millsap and Gordon Hayward just to name a fair few.

But one of the newest faces in the Cleveland Cavaliers is former MVP and all-star, Derrick Rose. He is coming off a solid season in New York, averaging 18 points, 4.4 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 0.7 steals on 47.1% shooting in 64 games.

And a certain big name player on the Cavaliers has very high hopes for the 28-year old point guard out of the University of Memphis.

LeBron has high hopes for D-Rose

During the 2017 Cleveland Cavaliers media day, players received photos and interviews from many media personalities connected to the NBA. LeBron James talked about many huge topics regarding his current situation in his career, which includes the Kyrie Irving trade, the acquirement of new players to the team, the 2018 free agency topic, the twitter fight with the president and more. But one thing the King made sure to talk about was the 6 foot 3 point guard, Derrick Rose. He talked about the new talent on the Cavs roster including Thomas, Green, Crowder, Zizic, Osman, and Calderon but made sure to go into depth about Derrick Rose, LeBron said:

“I’m excited more than anybody about D-Rose… the kid has a lot to prove.

From competition against him for so many years, especially in Miami when he was with Chicago, knowing the competitor he’s been over the years. Been a fan of him for a long time, and I never thought in my wildest dreams that I’d be a teammate of his. I think he had a hell of a season last year and people don’t really see it because of the chaos that was going on in New York. Played 64 games, averaged 18 points and 4 and 4… and I’m excited to have him here because I want people to know that D-Rose can still play the game at a high level.”

LeBron obviously has a high amount of respect for Derrick Rose and is hoping for the best for him this upcoming season.

It’s Rose’s time

This season is a great chance for Derrick Rose to prove himself finally.

After being the NBA MVP in 2011 and being labeled the best player on the planet by many during that time, Rose had very high expectations. But just one season later, a huge injury changed his career forever, and he has seemingly never been the same since. More injuries have occurred since that time, but Rose had a very solid season last year in New York and will be looking to finally stay healthy for a full season and have his best season this year in Cleveland. Having superstars including James, Thomas, Love and Wade on the team this season will allow Rose to be a little more comfortable this season.
