In today's game, the Houston Astros jumped in front 2-0 in the first inning and never looked back. Texas managed to put two runs on the board but by the sixth inning, Houston held a commanding 11-2 lead. The Astros would add their 12th run in the seventh inning before shutting out their opponents for the remainder of the game.
For the win, Carlos Correa and George Springer each smacked out home runs in the game. Correa had two in this game with one coming in the fifth inning and the other in the sixth. That gave him 23 for the season. He finished the game with a 4-for-5 batting performance and four RBIs.
Springer went 2-for-4 and had four RBIs. His home run in the sixth was his 34th of the season.
On the losing side, Willie Calhoun went 2-for-3 with an RBI and run scored, while Drew Robinson was 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Delia DeShields and Elvis Andrus were each 2-for-4 for the Texas Rangers but neither player had any RBIs.
The Astros new ace Justin Verlander collected the win tonight to move to 11-8 on the season. Verlander had 11 strikeouts and gave up just the two runs through his six innings on the mound. Nick Martinez took the loss for the Texas Rangers. He went five innings with two strikeouts but gave up four runs.

The Texas Rangers drop to 76-82 for the season with a 39-38 record at home. Currently second-to-last in the AL West, they're also 7.5 games away from the Minnesota Twins from the second of two AL Wild Card spots. For the Rangers' next game, they'll host the Oakland Athletics on Thursday night at 8:05 p.m. Eastern Time. Miguel Gonzalez will be on the mound for the Rangers.
