Sunday's WWE "SummerSlam 2017" pay-per-view will feature plenty of hard-hitting action from the Barclay's Center in Brooklyn, New York. One of the potential main event matches will feature Brock Lesnar defending the Wwe Universal Championship in a Fatal 4-Way match. "The Beast" and his advocate Paul Heyman have made it known on WWE "Raw" that if Lesnar should lose, they will leave the WWE.
With three of Brock's toughest competitors all in the ring at once, will he be able to walk away as champion? Here are the latest preview and predictions based on the WWE betting odds available.
Match Preview
Brock Lesnar has now held the Universal Championship ever since "WrestleMania 33" when he defeated Bill Goldberg for the title. The Beast finally conquered his greatest rival and has now held the title since early April. However, he's had several competitors trying to grab that belt from him. Most recently it was "The Destroyer" Samoa Joe who faced Brock at "Great Balls of Fire." Joe seemed like he might conquer Lesnar with the Coquina Clutch, but Brock managed to survive and hit the F5 for the win.
A No. 1 contender's match was set up on WWE "Raw" to determine if Roman Reigns or Samoa Joe should head to "SummerSlam" to face Brock. However, Braun Strowman decided to get involved and caused the match to be thrown out. That resulted in WWE "Raw" General Manager Kurt Angle arranging a Fatal 4-Way for the title at Sunday's PPV.
Who will win on Sunday?
There have been plenty of WWE rumors swirling over what will happen going forward with Brock Lesnar, the Universal title, and of course how long he'll stay with WWE. There's been talk that Lesnar could leave after next year's "WrestleMania 34" in New Orleans. For a while, there have been rumors saying that Brock will hold onto the Universal title until then and that he'll defend it against Roman Reigns on "the grandest stage of them all."
The current WWE betting odds from Irish sports book Paddy Power could tell the story of who will win.
For several weeks, Brock Lesnar was the favorite, but as of this report, there's a newer favorite. Samoa Joe has moved out in front with odds of 10 to 11 to win this coming Sunday. Braun Strowman is a spot below him with 13 to 8 odds. Meanwhile, Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns are tied with 6 to 1 odds to win.
Could WWE fans see a new champion emerge on Sunday? These latest odds seem to indicate that WWE may be heading in a new direction, as there are also rumors that John Cena will be involved in a program with Samoa Joe once Cena arrives to "Raw."
WWE fans who do you see leaving "SummerSlam 2017" as WWE Universal Champion on Sunday?
