Boxing just clashed with the MMA, and this is thanks to the mega fight involving Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor. Unfortunately, the latter fell to the former’s brilliance.
Before their mega fight, barbaric words were thrown by each camp. Mayweather, however, concluded that talking does not win fights. Interestingly, the Philippine boxing legend Manny Pacquiao joined the fiasco. Here is everything about it in a nutshell.
Pacquiao’s hardest punch thrown
According to ESPN, Mayweather posted on Twitter a very ambiguous message and was believed to be directed to his opponent McGregor.
He said that when it comes to fights, “talking” does not help win. But out of nowhere, Manny Pacquiao appeared and trolled his way to Mayweather’s tweet. For the Filipino legend, “running” does guarantee a fight. He gave Floyd the divine blessing, though.

The tweet response from Pacquiao has since been deleted, but some fans and even iconic figures in sports were quick to capture it. It cannot be known for certain, of course, as Pacquiao’s message may mean something different. But perhaps, he was referring to Mayweather’s defensive style in boxing. It is worth noting that the two met in 2015 in what was billed “The Fight of the Century.” But unfortunately for Pacquiao, he lost to Mayweather in an underwhelming unanimous decision.
Pacquiao and some known personalities believed that Mayweather did the running on purpose. They even aired their concerns, suggesting that Mayweather robbed them.
Floyd wins
Meanwhile, the anticipated Mayweather vs. McGregor fight has come to an end. Floyd surfaced victorious after defeating the Irish born fighter by TKO in the 10th round.
Dan Rafael of ESPN said that Mayweather outclassed McGregor in every boxing aspect, which is to be expected. The boxing legend now holds a historic record of 50-0 topped with 27 knockouts. He announced after the fight that he would be retiring. With the achievement, Floyd now holds the record which was once held by Rocky Mariano (49-0).
It should be noted, though, that it was not boxing record. Interestingly, people revered it as one.
As for McGregor, almost everyone expected him to be defeated. He was, after all, entering sports in which he would be deemed a rookie. Nonetheless, this did not stop him from pursuing a fight with Mayweather. Some suggest that McGregor did this for the purpose of earning money. Many even dubbed the mega fight a “joke.” Regardless, the five-division champion Mayweather ended the night victorious. In terms of McGregor returning to UFC, it remains to be seen. He admitted that he lost the fight due to fatigue.
