Among them, a triple threat was set up for the United States Championship, and a big match was booked for next week's show to determine a new No. 1 contender for Jinder Mahal's WWE Championship. Here are the latest "SmackDown" results for July 25th from Richmond, Virginia.

After a bunch of arguing, Shane McMahon arrived out and booked a triple threat match for the U.S. Championship for tonight's show.

Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Baron Corbin in a match where he got some revenge after Sunday's cheap finish.

He told the guys in back to "queue the trumpets" and started to head backstage. Daniel Bryan came out on stage to stop Cena and said everyone needs to earn their opportunities. He booked John Cena vs. Shinsuke Nakamura for next week with the winner getting to face Jinder Mahal for the title at "SummerSlam."

Triple threat main event

In the "SmackDown Live" main event match, Kevin Owens defended the United States title against AJ Styles and Chris Jericho. The triple threat match featured plenty of action with all three competitors gaining an advantage at different times in the match.

Towards the close, Owens hit a huge superkick on Chris Jericho. AJ Styles blasted Owens with a Pele kick right after that. Styles got to the top rope but Owens sent him to the outside floor. In the ring, Owens hit the Pop Up Powerbomb on Jericho for a near fall. Owens went up top and hit a Frog Splash. Styles got back in the ring to toss Owens out and then covered Jericho for the pinfall victory.

Post-match, Kevin Owens got on the mic to complain about the unfairness of having to defend his title tonight in a triple threat. He said he'll have his rematch next week against Styles and get his US Championship back.
