Has Kyrie Irving cut ties with the Cavs even before they can come up with an amicable solution? It's been three weeks since Irving implied his interest to be traded. In a meeting with Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert, the 25-year-old point guard explained why he wanted to be traded and since then, things spiraled downwards not only for the Cavaliers team but for the players affected by Irving's request.
Now, it looks like the young Irving is not interested in what the team has to say as he has reportedly been unreachable since concluding his Nike tour in China.
Featured on Yahoo Sports is Jason Lloyd of The Athletic confirming the team has unsuccessfully contacted Kyrie and neither is the player in a rush to talk to the team or any of its players and representatives. While there have been talks between the Cavs' new manager Koby Altman and Kyrie Irving's representative, nothing has been finalized.
LeBron James' reaction to request
After news broke that Kyrie Irving requested a trade, LeBron James, on the other hand, felt compelled to address rumors that he felt unhappy that Irving is being traded and that "he's ready to beat his ass." He did this via two consecutive posts on Twitter saying none of the news was true; at the same time, encouraging fans to be more vigilant of fake news.
Meanwhile, James' former teammate Chris Bosh answered questions on what he thought about LeBron James and Kyrie Irving's current situation, saying they need to work things out. According to CBSSports, he also added that he understands why Kyrie wanted out and it may have something to do with creating his own legacy.
Team choices for trade
Meanwhile, Bleacher Report's sources revealed that Kyrie Irving wanted to be traded to the New York Knicks. And, if that's not possible, he also gave a list of the few teams he wanted to be traded, which includes the San Antonio Spurs, Minnesota Timberwolves, and the Miami Heat. Apparently, Irving wants to be in a place where his talents are highlighted and not just a second rate player, following the shadows of another one.
The aforementioned teams have not given their official statement about Kyrie's choices, but if he's to be traded to the New York Knicks, he's likely to achieve his visions. Despite Carmelo Anthony being a big part of the team and currently the star player, analysts believe he has not lived up to the characteristics of being the team's "cornerstone," something that Irving might just play well.
