The Phoenix Suns have been mentioned a lot over the past few days around the NBA. It was due to the Kyrie Irving's trade request, as the Suns were viewed, and still are, one of the possible landing spots for the All-Star point guard. It was rumored that they might send Eric Bledsoe and Brandon Knight to the Cavaliers in exchange for Irving, but nothing has happened yet. Other than that, the Suns haven't gotten much attention over the past few seasons since they've failed at winning basketball games and basically have underachieved.

They were one of the worst teams in the NBA last season with a 24-58 record that saw them finish at the 15th spot in the Western Conference. It has been seven years since the Suns played a playoff game, and on Tuesday night another bad news came for their fans.

Knight out with a knee injury

The news was first reported by ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, and he wrote that the 6-foot-3 point guard suffered a torn ACL in his left knee. Reportedly the injury occurred last week and Brandon Knight will most likely miss the entire 2017/2018 season.

Apparently, the Suns' point guard played in a pro-am game on Wednesday in Miami and injured his left knee as he landed awkwardly.

The news came as a shock to the Phoenix Suns fans and Knight himself is obviously devastated. It is expected that he undergoes surgery on Friday. He was the eighth overall pick back in the 2011 NBA Draft. He was drafted by the Detroit Pistons and spent his first two seasons with the Pistons. In 2014 he was traded from the Milwaukee Bucks to the Phoenix Suns and has played three seasons so far with the Suns. Knight's best season was during the 2015/2016 campaign in Phoenix when he averaged a career-high 19.6 points, 3.9 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game. Last season he was in the starting lineup only five times, as he mostly came off the bench. He played an average of 21.1 minutes per game in 54 games with the Suns last season and averaged 11.0 points and 2.4 assists per game.

The 25-year old point guard from Miami has three more years left on his current contract with Phoenix.

The Timberwolves acquire Anthony Brown

According to ESPN, the Minnesota Timberwolves have signed free-agent forward Anthony Brown to a two-way deal. The deal means that Brown will have the right to play for the Timberwolves and for their G-League team in Iowa next season.

Brown was the second round pick in 2015, drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers. The 6-foot-7 versatile forward has played 40 games in the NBA so far and holds career averages of 4.0 points and 2.6 rebounds per game. The Timberwolves are hoping Brown can help them at the small forward position next season, as they'll look for him to defend some of the best forwards in the NBA and also to make three-pointers at a decent rate.
