In the latest WWE rumors, its being reported that NXT signee Thea Trinidad was pursued for months by WWE. Trinidad is a former TNA Impact Wrestling star, who has appeared briefly within WWE and NXT. She's also playing a former Wwe Divas Champion in an upcoming biopic movie. Here's the latest on her involvement with WWE and their pursuit in order to sign her to NXT.
Who is Thea Trinidad?
In a Sportskeeda report on Sunday, it is mentioned that Thea Trinidad portrayed the character, Rosita. She was a co-holder of the TNA Knockouts Tag Team Championship and also part of the LAX stable for some time.
At 26-years-old, Trinidad has now been a pro wrestling star since 2010 and is also set to be married to "205 Live" Cruiserweight star Austin Aries.
Fans may have spotted her in backstage segments with Adam Rose (as one of the Rosebuds) or with Tyler Breeze. Most recently, she's surfaced again on NXT and appears to have some involvement with Andrade Almas in a storyline going forward.

Trinidad also appeared in a match on NXT against women's champion Asuka back in October of 2016. As many fans know, Trinidad was on the losing side of that situation. It was reported just last week that she'd officially signed a deal with the WWE.
With Trinidad out of Impact Wrestling, it was part of what led to WWE's interest in signing her. That, and of course, the fact that she had a recommendation from none other than Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. The pursuit for WWE to get Trinidad on board with the company took months, though and now she's appearing in NXT.
Her most recent segment involved Thea Trinidad slapping Andrade Almas, so stay tuned for more to come with that particular story.
Quite possibly she'll work in a valet or manager type role at ringside for a bit before transitioning to more in-ring action. However, one would think based on her background that she could start in the ring now.
Trinidad's big movie role
The reason for The Rock's endorsement of Trinidad is that he wanted her to play the role of A.J.
Lee in the biopic about another former WWE Divas Champion, Paige. The Rock got her for the part, and WWE eventually got her to join up with their professional wrestling company. Most likely, they'll be promoting the film with Trinidad getting more publicity as a part of the roster. Whether that means NXT or as part of the main roster should be interesting to see.
As of now, fans can check out weekly episodes of the NXT show on WWE Network to catch a glimpse of this potential future star in WWE.
