The latest episode of WWE's "Monday Night Raw" on June 5th, 2017 took place at Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. It was just one night after the "Extreme Rules" 2017 pay-per-view had taken place where The Miz became new Intercontinental Champion and the team of Sheamus and Cesaro captured the tag team titles. Also, samoa joe became the new No. 1 contender for Brock Lesnar's WWE Universal title at an upcoming PPV. Joe was part of the "Raw" episode and had a serious message for his future opponent.

Match results

Among the superstars featured on Monday's "Raw" were the Women's Champion Alexa Bliss, tag team champions, and Roman Reigns.

It was actually Reigns who was in the opening match of the show, as he arrived out to the ring to shut up Bray Wyatt. Prior to that, Wyatt had been discussing his plans to take out Reigns, Finn Balor, and Seth Rollins, one by one after the Fatal 5-Way results.

Roman and Bray would face off in the opening match which lasted nearly 20 minutes. The close saw Reigns beat the ref's count of 10 to get back in the ring, with Bray trying Sister Abigail. However, Reigns was able to hit a Superman Punch and a Spear for the win.

"Raw" GM Kurt Angle was once again distracted by something on his cell phone, which even required he go out to the commentators' table near the top of the stage. Angle pulled Corey Graves aside to discuss something on the phone and then was seen leaving the arena later on.

Before leaving he booked a few matches including Nia Jax vs. Alexa Bliss for the Women's Championship and Seth Rollins vs. Samoa Joe.

There was an Elias Samson segment where he did a song in the ring. An upset Dean Ambrose arrived out to attack him, but Samson would come back in the ring to lay out Ambrose, then backed up the ramp.

In a backstage segment, Big Cass was found laid out under some equipment. Due to that, his tag partner Enzo, who was back to work, had to find a tag team partner to take on Gallows and Anderson. The Big Show ended up working with Enzo and helped him get the big win via pinfall after tossing him at one of the opponents in the ring.

Later, Cass seemed upset that Show was conveniently around to be Enzo's partner this week.

It was mentioned that Bayley wouldn't be on "Raw" due to recovering from her Kendo stick match against Alexa Bliss at "Extreme Rules" 2017. Because of that, Kurt Angle decided to give Alexa a brand new opponent.

That meant Alexa Bliss had to defend her title against Nia Jax. Earlier before the match, she tried to stir up other members of the "Raw" women's roster to make them upset that Nia was getting a title shot over them. Mickie James and Dana Brooke laughed it off and came out to watch the match later.

When Alexa found herself being dominated in the ring by the much bigger Nia Jax, she tried to crawl away on the outside, running into Mickie and Dana.

That played into the champ's advantage as a brawl broke out which resulted in the ref calling for a DQ. Post-match, Alexa Bliss got away with her title and Nia destroyed Mickie and Dana in the ring.

In other matches, Sheamus and Cesaro made quick work of Slater and Rhyno. Kalisto grabbed a surprise win over Titus O'Neil and TJP defeated Mustafa Ali. TJP had demanded a title shot earlier from Neville after helping him out the past several weeks. Neville would come out later to say he couldn't get him the title shot and then attacked TJP. An enraged champion said TJP would have his shot on "205 Live."

There was also a victory celebration for The Miz after he won the Intercontinental title at "Extreme Rules." Maryse had the ring decorated with balloons and other items.

There was also a person dressed as a dancing bear. Miz thanked Maryse for the bear and she told him it wasn't her doing. That led Miz to attack the person thinking it was Ambrose. He would find out it was someone else, and Ambrose was disguised as a nearby cameraman, ready to attack Miz with Dirty Deeds.

Main event

In the main event matchup, "The Architect" Seth Rollins was in action against new No. 1 contender Samoa Joe. After his earlier incident where he took down Brock's manager Paul Heyman with the Coquina Clutch, Joe was looking to show Brock yet again that he means business in the ring. Rollins actually hung around in the match, though, and at one point had the upper hand.

However, Bray Wyatt's sound effect and video clip went off, with the arena going dark.

When the lights returned, Rollins was looking around for where "The Eater of Worlds" was, but he was nowhere in the ring. With Rollins looking out, a wise Samoa Joe grabbed Rollins from behind and locked in the Coquina Clutch. Soon after, Rollins had passed out from the hold, much like Finn Balor had done the night prior.
