Carmelo Anthony is one of the most popular NBA players, yet he hasn't achieved much in his career. Anthony has played in the NBA for 14 years, yet he's never won a championship ring, nor has he even reached the NBA Finals. Despite always being the best player on his team, Melo hasn't been able to achieve significant success in the postseason. However, things could change for better if he decides to join his friend LeBron James in Cleveland.
Cleveland Cavaliers are currently 0-2 in the NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors and they might decide to shake up their roster if they lose the series.
Even though the Warriors are one of the best NBA teams of all time, the Cavaliers won't be happy if they lose once again, and they might decide to make some big changes to the roster in that case.
Carmelo Anthony is being pushed out of New York
New York Knicks president Phil Jackson isn't a fan of Carmelo Anthony and he wants the superstar to leave the team. Undoubtedly, Jackson would have traded Anthony by now, but the small forward has a no-trade clause in his contract and that is making things hard. Anthony has two more years left on his contract with the Knicks and he will be one of the highest-paid players next season with $26.2 million. However, he will have a player option on the final year of his contract and will be able to opt out of it and become a free agent.
Phil Jackson has made it clear that he'd like Anthony to leave. "We have not been able to win with him on the court at this time and I think the direction with our team is that he is a player that would be better off somewhere else and using his talent somewhere he can win or chase that championship," Jackson said about Anthony.
At this point, he is basically challenging the forward to waive his no-trade clause so he can trade him somewhere else.
Cleveland Cavaliers would welcome Carmelo
Carmelo Anthony is 33 and he will most likely play for only two or three more years in the league. If he doesn't want to be remembered as one of the greatest players to never win a championship ring, he will have to go somewhere else as he has no future in New York.
Cleveland Cavaliers would certainly like to sign or trade for Anthony, as he is still a great scorer and could help the team win a championship.
If they suffer another loss in the NBA Finals, the Cavaliers will have to change something, and Carmelo Anthony could be the missing piece of the puzzle for them.
