On Thursday, the 2017 NBA Draft arrived in Brooklyn, New York, and the Knicks were amongst the teams mentioned in hot trade rumors. Earlier in the day, a major trade involving big man Kristaps Porzingis to the Boston Celtics was being talked about on various media sites. However, as draft night arrived at the Barclay's Center, the Knicks held onto Porzingis and their No. 8 pick, making French point guard Frank Ntilikina their choice at that spot.

Here's the latest about Ntilikina and how he may help the New York Knicks.

Ntilikina's resume

A 6-foot-5 guard, Ntilikina played with the French team SIG Strasbourg where he won the Best Young Player Award for the French Pro A League in 2016 and 2017. He'll provide a young international talent to possibly pair with Kristaps Porzingis, although the Knicks have not ruled out a trade involving their big man.

That said, with Derrick Rose's status with the Knicks unknown, they certainly need a point guard for their rotation. Most likely, New York is hoping Ntilikina can play similar to or better than another French player who is a former All-Star and multiple-time NBA champion: Tony Parker.

That said, it may take some time for the new young and talented guard to develop his game.

He isn't really one of those "score-first" types either as he's got more of a passing mentality, which could be great if he can find hot shooters on the floor for the Knicks. It's said that after Markelle Fultz and Lonzo Ball, Ntilikina has probably the most upside of any guard available on the board. ESPN's Chad Ford ranked him No. 11 overall on his board of prospects.

Knicks trades

As mentioned, the New York Knicks were mentioned in a hot NBA trade rumor that involved them sending big man Kristaps Porzingis to the Boston Celtics possibly in exchange for the No. 3 pick. However, the Celtics didn't budge on the deal and kept their spot in Thursday's NBA Draft.

At the third spot, they took Duke forward Jayson Tatum to add to their roster.

However, Knicks president Phil Jackson has been in interviews lately saying that Porzingis could be on the move. The same could be said about longtime All-Star Carmelo Anthony, who would need to opt out of a "no trade clause" in his contract in order for a deal to be made. It's also likely that Derrick Rose will hit the road in search of more of a contender for the present. So don't be surprised if the Knicks aren't done with the rebuilding of their struggling roster.
