Amid the sexual harassment issues that Harvey Weinstein is facing, his wife Georgina Chapman announced that she is leaving her husband. Lindsay Lohan, on the other hand, defended Weinstein and told Chapman she should stand by her partner.

Chapman broke her silence days after a number of sexual harassment allegations plagued Weinstein. The Marchesa designer said in a statement that her “heart breaks for all the women who have suffered tremendous pain” because of the alleged “unforgivable actions” of her husband. According to E! News, she expressly said in her announcement that she has chosen to leave Weinstein.

She concluded her statement by saying that she wants privacy from the media during this difficult time because caring for her children is her top priority. Weinstein and Chapman have two children together. They got married in 2007.

What the sexual harassment allegations against Weinstein are about

The sexual harassment allegations against Weinstein first became public when the New York Times published their investigation, which included several women who came forward and claimed that they were sexual misconducts done by Weinstein to them. The lawyer of Weinstein said that the New York Times article was false and defamatory, but Weinstein seemingly admitted his misconducts. In a statement he released, he said that he came of age in the 60's and 70's when the rules on behavior and workplaces were different as opposed to what is happening now.

Weinstein pointed out that he has since learned that his behaviors in the past are not an excuse in the office or anywhere else. He also said that he realized some time ago that he needs to be a better person and since that realization, his interactions with people he works with have changed. Weinstein went on to say he is committed now to do better regarding how he behaves with his colleagues because he knows he has a long way to go.

Initially, Chapman stood behind her husband and supported him, which was revealed in a statement by Weinstein. Weinstein said days ago that he and his wife have talked about the issue at hand “at length.” It remains unknown what pushed Chapman to decide that she no longer wants to be married to Weinstein.

Lindsay Lohan comments

Also in an article published by E! News, Lohan defended Weinstein through two Instagram story videos. Lohan said in one that she feels very bad for Weinstein and she thinks Chapman should take a stand and be there for her husband. Lohan said that Weinstein never harmed her or did anything to her during the times they did several movies together. The Instagram story videos have since been deleted.
