Sunday night's WWE "Payback" 2017 results featured two championships changing hands with several other matches resulting in brutal outcomes. The event opened and closed with a bang, as the first match featured Chris Jericho capturing the United States title and the final game saw Roman Reigns nearly sent away in another ambulance by Braun Strowman. Other big WWE match winners on the night included Bray Wyatt in the creepy "House of Horrors" match, and Alexa Bliss is becoming new WWE "Raw" Women's Champion.

'Payback' match results

During the WWE "Payback" results, Enzo Amore and Big Cass got the first win of the night.

Their victory came during the "Kickoff Show" as they defeated Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson via pinfall. Later during that show, The Miz brought Finn Balor onto "MizTV" in the ring and tried to insult the man who formed "Balor Club."

At one point, Balor went to go face-to-face with Miz, but Miz put his wife in between them. Balor said he'd be the bigger man and went to walk away. Miz went for the attack, only for Balor to put him down on the mat to close that segment out.

Chris Jericho defeated Kevin Owens in the opener. Owens was able to escape one Walls of Jericho by reaching a finger to the ropes, just like he did at "WrestleMania." However, Jericho took out frustration on that hand to the point that when he slapped another hold on Owens, he could only tap out.

With that, Jericho is now the WWE United States Champion.

Alexa Bliss also was victorious, winning her match against Bayley. The hometown was fired up for the current champion, but the smaller women's wrestling star was able to kick out of a pinfall at one point with Bayley hitting her head on the bottom turnbuckle. Moments later, Bliss hit a big DDT to drive Bayley headfirst into the mat for the winning pinfall.

She has now made history as the first women's star to have won the "SmackDown" and "Raw" women's titles.

'Payback' 2017 match results:

  • Enzo & Big Cass def. Gallows & Anderson via pinfall.
  • Chris Jericho def. Kevin Owens via submission for US Title.
  • The Hardy Boyz def. Sheamus & Cesaro via pinfall to retain Raw tag team titles.
  • Austin Aries def. Neville due to DQ, Neville retains Cruiserweight title.
  • Alexa Bliss def. Bayley via pinfall to win WWE Raw Women's title.
  • Bray Wyatt def. Randy Orton via pinfall in "House of Horrors" match.
  • Seth Rollins def. Samoa Joe via pinfall.
  • Braun Strowman def. Roman Reigns via pinfall.

Austin Aries won the Cruiserweight title match against Neville, but not the title.

He had Neville locked into a submission on the mat, but the crafty champion grabbed the referee, pulling him down to the mat. The referee had no choice but to call for a disqualification. That meant Aries won the match, but Neville kept his title.

The Hardy Boyz were also victorious, but not without Jeff Hardy losing a tooth, and Matt Hardy getting scratched up on his forehead. Ultimately, Jeff made a blind tag to his brother right before Sheamus put Matt down for a pinfall. Jeff hit a Swanton off the corner to land on Sheamus and pinned him for the win. A show of sportsmanship after the match was a false advertisement as Sheamus and Cesaro came back to attack Matt and Jeff leaving them laid out.

Seth Rollins is now known as "The King Slayer" after defeating Triple H at "WrestleMania" earlier this month. In tonight's match, he took on HHH's hired help, Samoa Joe, who was the same guy who sidelined Rollins ahead of "Mania." Joe looked like he had the win after hitting a big clothesline and then putting a chokehold on Rollins on the mat. However, Rollins was smart enough to roll back onto Joe into a pinfall to put his shoulders on the mat for a three count.

Nobody knew what to expect in the "House of Horrors" match including Randy Orton. He arrived by limo at the strange house at an unknown spot only to find Bray Wyatt inside the home. The two battled through various rooms with Wyatt getting the upper hand.

He eventually turned a refrigerator over on Orton on the floor before leaving in the limo for the arena.

The two would finish the match later on, with Orton managing to get to the ring too. Despite getting control of things in the arena, the Singh Brothers attacked Orton and then Jinder Mahal showed up to lay out Orton with his World Championship Belt. Wyatt hit Sister Abigail and collected the win, but not for the title.

The main event saw Roman Reigns show up in bandages still hurting from being attacked weeks ago by his nemesis Braun Strowman. The two battled back and forth in this latest match with Reigns seeming to control things at one point. He hit several Superman Punch moves in the ring, but at one point when he jumped, Braun caught him in a bear hug and squeezed the life out of him.

After two big power slam moves, Braun captured a pinfall win. He followed the win up by beating up Reigns with the steel steps and slamming them into his midsection. That resulted in Reigns coughing up blood in the ring and needing help to get backstage as the PPV was off the air.

What's the aftermath?

WWE "Monday Night Raw" hits Sacramento, California on Monday evening with USA Network televising it at 8 p.m. ET. This show will probably feature quite a few superstars looking for rematches. They may include Bayley and Kevin Owens. However, with Chris Jericho's victory, he officially moves to the "SmackDown Live" roster. Will he still show up on "Raw" and have to defend the title?

Also, Cesaro and Sheamus will probably have some explaining to do after their attack on Matt and Jeff Hardy.

Also, Bray Wyatt's win may have him heading in a new direction since Randy Orton is not a part of the "Raw" roster.

That means on Tuesday's WWE "SmackDown" several developments may occur including Randy Orton trying to call out Jinder Mahal after he stole his championship belt and attacked him. The latest episode will air Tuesday night on USA Network at 8 p.m. Eastern Time.
