Miami Heat center Hassan Whiteside is having a fantastic season. After receiving a 4-year contract worth nearly $100 million last summer, the 27-year old center has further improved his game and he took it to a whole new level. Right now, Whiteside is leading the NBA in rebounds per game with 14.0 and he is on pace to become the first D-League alumnus with 1000 points and 1000 rebounds in a single NBA season.
Whiteside's road hasn't been easy, but he's always believed in himself and his abilities. Once a former D-League player, Hassan Whiteside has established himself as one of the best big men in the NBA, and he's definitely made a name for himself.
Hassan Whiteside keeps improving
Hassan Whiteside has worked hard on his game and thanks to his work ethic, he quickly became one of the best centers in the entire NBA. Some of the biggest weaknesses of Whiteside's game were his maturity and free throw shooting. However, he has worked on both of those things and not only has he become a great free throw shooter, but he's matured a lot and became a better team player.
Whiteside's game used to be about highlight plays and he excelled at blocking opponents at the rim. Now, he still makes highlight plays and entertains the crowd, but he also does a lot of small things that help histeam. The Heat center is slowly turning into a team leader and it looks like he could stay in South Beach for a long time.
Whiteside will make history
The 27-year old center needs only one more rebound to get his rebounding total to 1000 for the season. He has already scored over 1000 points, so he is on a good way to become the first D-League alumnus to get 1000 points and 1000 rebounds in a single NBA season. By achieving this, Hassan Whiteside will make history and his feat will always be remembered.
Furthermore, Whiteside is only a block shy of getting 150 blocks in a season. If he achieves that, he will be only 18th player in the NBA history with 1000 points, 1000 rebounds and 150 blocks. Before him, NBA legends like Shaquille O'Neal, Hakeem Olajuwon and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar achieved this feat.
