Dion Waiters is enjoying his time in Miami and he wants to keep playing for the Heat after this season. Waiters is having the best season of his career, averaging a career-high 16.1 points and 4.4 assists per game while leading the Heat to the playoffs. The shooting guard recently commented about his future, saying how he loves the city and that he wants to stay there for the long term. Beside giving his opinion on Miami, Waiters also said that he will reach out to Dwyane Wade to teach him some of his own tricks.
Miami Heat will keep Dion Waiters
Miami Heat signed Dion Waiters to a cheap contract last summer, spending $2.9 million on him. Waiters has a player option on the contract for the next season, but is expected to opt out of his contract as it would pay him only $3 million. Taking into account his incredible performances this season, Waiters' value is expected to rise to at least $10 million a year, and there is no doubt that a lot of NBA teams will want to sign him.
Heat president Pat Riley said that the Heat will most likely pay Dion Waiters if he can keep up his high level of play. Riley said this in February, and Waiters has been nothing but amazing ever since. Last summer, the shooting guard rejected more lucrative offers from other NBA teams as he chose to sign with the Miami Heat, so it would not be surprising if he does the same this summer and exercises his player option.
Dwyane Wade is Dion Waiters' idol and someone he wants to learn from
Dion Waiters said that he will reach out to Dwyane Wade and ask him to show him some "tricks of the trade" as he wants to improve his own game. Waiters showed great respect and admiration for the Miami Heat legend and said how he idolizes and looks up to Wade.
After leaving the Heat last summer, Dwyane Wade was replaced by Waiters, who has done a great job so far.
Waiters praised Wade, saying how he is one of the best players to ever play the game and one of his favorite players. There is no doubt that Waiters could learn a lot from Dwyane Wade as he is very skilled, and besides slashing, which is one of his biggest strengths, Wade is an excellent post player. Dion Waiters would benefit tremendously from a workout with Wade, and would further develop his skills in order to help the Miami Heat win more games.
