The Skywalker Saga is about to come to an end in “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.” Just like the previous “Star Wars” Movies, Lucasfilm remains mum about “Episode 9” storyline and other details, so there are a lot of assumptions on what is going to happen.

The franchise has been long-surrounded by a number of theories and the new movie is like no other. So from Emperor Palpatine’s (Ian McDiarmid) return to Rey’s (Daisy Ridley) real personality and past, what will the final installment in the sequel trilogy is about to reveal?

Rey’s connection to Luke and Kylo Ren

A new theory from Inverse revealed that Rey might be a part of Luke’s (Mark Hamill) Jedi Academy before his fall out with Kylo Ren (Adam Driver). The idea came from Luke and Kylo Ren’s flashbacks in “The Last Jedi.”

When Kylo Ren’s hut was about to collapse when he had a duel against Luke, a high pitched scream could be heard in the background. And that voice was believed to be from Rey, and she might be there in the academy all along.

However, it couldn’t be denied that there are some loopholes in this theory. Rey was not seen on the screen when the duel happened.

So the scream might not be from her.

But, there were also claims that the said scream was similar to the yell heard in her vision in “The Force Awakens.” Another hole that needed to be covered is what happened to Rey’s memory if she was indeed one of Luke’s Jedi students.

The probable is, Luke possibly used his Jedi Mind trick to wipe off Rey’s memory to keep her safe from Kylo Ren. So, fans should wait and see if this theory will play out in “Episode 9.”

Palpatine’s return to the canon

“Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalkers” official trailer surprised everyone when it teased the return of Palpatine to the canon. Also known as Darth Sidious, a lot of fans believed he already died in “Return of the Jedi" until his signature laugh was heard at the end of the clip, signifying his comeback.

His return only implied that everything is possible to happen to the franchise, including the probability that he has something to do with Luke’s self-imposed exile. In the newly-released “Star Wars: Age of Rebellion - Luke Skywalker” comic book series, it revealed Palpatine influenced Luke to be out of the war and live alone on Ahch-To.

Luke's decision to live in a remote place was said to be incited by Palpatine, which the evil villain wanted him to do all along. Although Luke didn’t directly talk to Palpatine, the comic book revealed the latter reached out for him and successfully made contact through the presence of sudden darkness. From here, Palpatine could make suggestions in his mind that he would gladly obey.

Will this part of Luke’s storyline be revealed in “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker?” Find out in the movie’s release in December.
