“Orange is the New Black” season 7 will be the last time fans are about to see the women in Litchfield Penitentiary. The show’s production has already wrapped up in February, and its stars already bid their goodbyes to each other on their respective social media pages.

In a new interview with Dascha Polanco, who plays as Dayanara, she revealed her sentiment on the show’s ending. Taylor Schilling, who portrays Piper’s role, on the other hand, earlier revealed her hopes for the final season.

Polanco’s sentiments on the show’s final season

“After seven years, I think this is a family.

It’s bittersweet,” Polanco told Us Weekly about “Orange is the New Black” season 7. The 36-year-old star revealed the cast had a collective mood on set during the final days of filming.

On the final day of production, there were laughter and tears that made her realized that time really flies so fast, and people should live more in the moment. However, they were served with a lot of food, so they were only eating away from their feelings.

The new season will begin without Piper as she struggles with the life outside prison. Alternatively, the life in the corrupted and unjust Max will continue without her.

Taystee’s (Danielle Brooks) life sentence is now looming, so her friendship with Cindy (Adrienne C.

Moore) is still hanging in the balance. Lastly, Gloria (Selenis Leyva) and her kitchen staff will be confronted by Polycon’s newest profit stream, while others are still chasing either drugs or their dreams as they grapple the reality of their real place in this world.

The beginning of an end

Piper will be adjusting to her new life in “Orange is the New Black” season 7 as she is now out of prison.

Schilling told Entertainment Weekly her character would begin to navigate the outside world, learning what it’s like to be a civilian again.

Piper will learn the hard truth that freedom doesn’t come the moment that she steps out of prison. “She becomes a little bit bolder expressing what she wants rather than trying to fit in and make it about other people,” Schilling revealed.

Even though Piper is now free, she still has to face a lot of challenges – and one of those is being away from Alex (Laura Prepon). To recall, the two got married in season 6 before she got released, and this would be the first time that they would be separated.

Piper will realize Alex is an important part of her journey, and her love is something that is very significant for her. As the show is about to come to an end, Schilling hopes the final season will help people to feel seen and see that the show is a reflection of what is really happening in the cultural collective.
