Netflix has announced a date for “Lucifer” season 5 but it will be the show’s final outing. After petitioning for the renewal, fans seem to be still not contended with five seasons, so there may be another campaign to extend the show.
Showrunner Idly Modrovich finally breaks her silence about the ending of Lucifer’s (Tom Ellis) story. On Twitter, the screenwriter poured out her emotions and thanked fans, and Netflix, for picking up the show.
A love letter final season for fans
After Netflix confirmed “Lucifer” season 5 would be the show's final instalment, fans are now back on Twitter to campaign for another season. With the success of #SaveLucifer when Fox cancelled the series, viewers know that their voice can be heard once again.
A fan asked Modrovich about her point of view on a possible season 6, as its cult following is hoping they will have the cast and crew's support to continue the show.
She answered the question by apologizing for her being quiet, revealing she is actually feeling torn. “So much of me could do #Lucifer forever.
But I’m also immensely grateful YOU & @netflix gave us the chance to continue our story together," she said on the tweet.
Modrovich also assured the final season would be a love letter to all the #Lucifans.
Episode number and other season 5 details
According to Digital Spy, Modrovich already confirmed “Lucifer” season 5 would have ten episodes, the same number of episodes as the previous season. She promised they would make every minute of it count, as it would be the series' final bow.
As some fans are seeming to lose hope, for a possible renewal, one asked if it is doable to have a spinoff series about Ella (Aimee Garcia), Maze (Lesley-Ann Brandt), and Chloe (Lauren German). Modrovich didn’t shy away from the idea and even said it would be “interesting.”
Talking about what fans could expect from the final season, she added they are trying to bring it in a completely different direction.
If someone is speculating on a possible thing that may happen, they are trying to think outside of the box to inject a surprising twist and turn of events. So both fans and people behind the show would never get bored.
So far, Modrovich revealed they already have an idea in mind on how the final season will run. They think the plotline they have is crazy, but the more they talk about it, the more it becomes brilliant.
So despite having only 10 episodes, fans should be at ease to know that they are going to make it in their own way. They can expect to see another edgier seasons. It is the luxury that they can get from Netflix that they cannot do on television networks.
Netflix has yet to announce when “Lucifer” season 5 will be out, but it is expected for release in 2020. The show’s first three seasons can be binged-watch on Amazon Prime.
