"Game of Thrones" season 8 episode 5 titled "The Bells" featured a rather important detail in its first scene that you could have easily overlooked. This detail could have major implications for the series finale, so without further ado, let's get down to the nitty-gritty.

There are potential spoilers for "Game of Thrones" finale ahead.

The schemes of the spider

In the very first scene of "Game of Thrones" season 8 episode 5, Varys was writing a letter revealing that Jon Snow is a true born son of Rhaegar and Lyanna, and the rightful ruler of the Seven Kingdoms.

He was probably sending copies of this letter to all the lords of Westeros.

But then a common girl named Martha entered Varys' chambers to inform the Master of Whisperers that Daenerys won't eat.

She then expressed her concerns about being watched by Daenerys' soldiers. Varys then asked her to repeat what he had told her, to which Martha replies: "The bigger the risk, the bigger the reward."

Check out the whole dialogue down below.

What does it all mean?

One option is that Varys was simply concerned about Daenerys' well-being. However, it's far more likely, that he was trying to poison her.

If true, it would be yet another callback to season 1.

But you might be asking why would it matter now when Varys is dead? This very question brings me to the new Reddit theory.

How Daenerys could die

According to Reddit user u/ThePoeticSyndrome, Martha could still poison Daenerys in "Game of Thrones" season 8 episode 6 despite the fact that Varys is dead. And maybe Varys' rings we saw him hiding right before he was executed are meant to be her payment.

Also the fact that David Benioff and Dan Weiss, "Game of Thrones" showrunners, deliberately chose to ignore detail in the "Game Revealed" segment of episode 4 could be a hint that this detail might pay off in the final episode.

We are all led to believe that Jon Snow will be the one who will end Daenerys' reign of terror with a knife through a heart, Nissa Nissa style.

Some even claim that Arya will be the one who does it because of the whole "green eyes" part of Melisandre's prophecy. Unlike the books, Daenerys has green eyes in the show.

But according to u/ThePoeticSyndrome, it would be extremely fitting for Daenerys to die at the hands of the common people after all the suffering she has caused them in "The Bells."

Redditor then goes on to explain how this will play out. "After Red Wedding and Purple Wedding, we could get another celebration party going horribly wrong to give a fitting end to a terrible person Daenerys has become.
