"Captain Marvel" is set to release in theaters with a PG-13 rating. There are only a few weeks left before Marvel releases their twenty-first MCU based film and first featuring their first female-led superhero movie, starring Oscar-winner Brie Larson who plays Carol Danvers.

Comic Book says Disney has been pushing their newest film as of late, including a surprising TV spot during Super Bowl LIII.

All the footage was focused on Carol Danvers' discovery of who she really is, but it definitely will not be a traditional origin film. The studio has shaken up the film's narrative on how it tells "Captain Marvel" story. The latest footage has confirmed that the latest chapter in the MCU will have the classic humor we have grown to love and also includes younger versions of Nick Fury, Phil Coulson, Ronan the Accuser and Korath Pursuer.

PG-13 rating for "Captain Marvel" not a surprise to Marvel Studios

The MPAA's designation of a PG-13 rating continues the MCU's pattern of being a PG-13 film. The rating was made official and has been given to the solo film for sequences of sci-fi violence, action, and suggestive language.

Every film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has received PG-13 ratings, so it's not a surprise that "Captain Marvel" would receive the same rating. There was no chance that Marvel Studios would have created an R rated film. Disney itself as only started toying with the idea of an R-rated Marvel film.

The official rating designation for "Captain Marvel," does not mean that the final cut has been completed. The film releases next month, but press screenings will begin in the next few weeks. The box office estimates for the newest entry into the MCU are expected to be high, even without a single review being available. Screen Rant has reported that projections for the latest film would open to $160 million in its first weekend, based mainly on pre-sale numbers.

'Captain Marvel' is already seeing strong ticket sales numbers

"Captain Marvel" producer Jonathan Schwartz tried to explain the tone of the film. Schwartz said that Carol Danvers is a funny character, but not funny like Rocket Racoon in "Guardians of the Galaxy," which is super funny. Box office estimates and ticket sales could increase once responses to the film are made available and the release date draws closer. "Captain Marvel" flies into theaters on March 8. Other upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe Movies include the much anticipated "Avengers: Endgame" on April 26, and "Spider-Man: Far From Home" on July 5th.
