The latest updates and spoilers for the live-action "Captain Marvel" movie reveal new details about Carol Danvers mission in the story. Twitter user Rochi Shion, posted a screenshot a scene description hinting of the mission that Carol and her team Starforce have undertaken on planet Torfa.
Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige told Cinemblend (via We Got This Covered) that the movie will not feature a cameo appearance from the Black Panther.
The film will take place in the 90s and Carol returns to earth to stop the Skrulls from invading her home. She will have several allies such as her mentor Mar-Vell, and young S.H.I.E.L.D. agents Nick Fury and Phil Coulson.
The mission on Torfa
According to Screen Rant, Rochi's post claimed that Carol Danvers and Starforce are sent to planet Torfa to look for a missing Kree spy. The mission proves to be dangerous as Starforce is experiencing communication problems caused by their adversaries, the Skrull Empire, and they are expecting an attack from them.
The film's production crew used Simi Valley, California as the staging ground for Torfa's surface and described the planet as having blue-streaked sands and towering stone archways.
Entertainment Weekly stated that "Captain Marvel" will not be an origin story as Carol already has her powers and left earth to join the Kree army. Film producer John Schwartz explained the reason why the movie is set in the 90s is that he wanted Carol to belong in an era where there were few female heroes and wants to carve her own path.
Schwartz admitted that he was inspired by classic 90s action sci-fi films such as "Terminator 2," "Starship Troopers," "Robocop," "Total Recall," and more.
No Black Panther cameo
According to We Got This Covered, Kevin Feige told Cinemablend in an interview that Black Panther will not be present in the "Captain Marvel." He added that the Black Panther that he was referring to is T'Challa's father, T'Chaka, who is the previous king of Wakanda before his death in "Captain America: Civil War."
“I would say no," Feige said.
"I mean, in terms of Captain Marvel and a young T’Chaka in ’92, no. That’s not where we’re headed.”
T'Chaka was both a king and Black Panther in the 90s when he visited his younger brother, N'Jobu, in California. Carol will meet his son during the events of "Avengers 4" as she helps the surviving heroes to save the universe from the Mad Titan Thanos and the Infinity Stones.
"Captain Marvel" will premiere in cinemas on March 8, 2019.
