Rumors of Adam Newman returning to "The Young and the Restless" have been surfacing since Michael Muhney left the role in 2014. Spoiler alerts from Celeb Dirty Laundry, Soaps She Knows, and Soap Hub all reported that he may come back to Genoa City before Chelsea left town earlier this year. Unfortunately, Ms. Lawton split, for parts unknown with their son Conner, without any sight of her supposedly dead husband. Now that Nick has started his own company, Dark Horse, the buzz about Adam's return has begun once more.
He allegedly will join forces with his older sibling and Jack in order to destroy Newman Enterprises, as well as his father,
Adam may be Nick's secret weapon
Soap Hub recently listed comings and goings on "Y&R," but an Adam Newman recast, or a return of Michael Muhney, was not one of them. Celeb Dirty Laundry, however, lays out a compelling scenario that might make conditions just right to bring Victor's son back to Genoa City. The spoiler suggests that Adam would be the ideal candidate to seal the Dark Horse deal and help Jack and Nick dominate the business world.
CDL points out that Victor is reeling from all the J.T. drama, being hospitalized, and also being betrayed by his firstborn son. Businesses that worked with Newman Enterprises for years have pulled out and a few have joined Nick at Dark Horse.
Jack, who is Victor's sworn enemy, joining forces with Nick is bad enough, but the spoiler indicates that Adam's coming on board as his sibling's secret weapon would really be a blow to the Newman patriarch.
Dark Horse will not defeat Victor
Should Adam return to Genoa City, at this point, there will be a lot of questions that need to be answered.
If he was alive and well, then why did he stay away from his wife and children? Where has he been and why did he not show up when Chelsea left town with Conner. Celeb Dirty Laundry suggests that Adam may be angry because Victor tried to take Christian from Nick, but the boy is back living with his uncle so that would not be a viable motive.
It would seem more likely that seeking Chelsea and Conner would be a top priority at this point, rather than joining Dark Horse and besting his father.
"The Young and the Restless" resurrecting Adam via Michael Muhney, or a recast, at this time, does not seem like it would fit into the current storyline, in light of recent events that took place in Genoa City. Even so, the writers could find a way to make it work. Perhaps Chelsea and Conner will come back to town with Adam, and he will seek revenge for all that Victor has done to destroy his family. However, this plays out, long time viewers know that in the end, neither Jack, Nick, Adam, nor Dark Horse will have the victory, because thus far for more than 3 decades no one has been able to defeat the Newman patriarch or keep him down for long.
