The latest updates and spoilers for "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" reveal a new cast member playing the role of another web-slinger. "National Treasure" star Nicolas Cage has been rumored to join the animated film as Spider-Man Noir, alongside Peter Parker and Miles Morales. Gwen Stacy will also appear. "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse," tells the story of Miles Morales, a Brooklyn-born teenager who received spider-like powers and tries to figure out what to do with them. Miles then meets the original wall-crawler, Peter, who ends up in his universe and starts training him to become the hero he was meant to be.
Nicolas Cage as Spider-Man Noir
According to Discussing Film, Sony Pictures Entertainment has signed a deal with Nicolas Cage to be part of the voice cast for "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" animated film. Cage is no stranger to comic book superhero films as he was famously portrayed Johnny Blaze in "Ghost Rider" films and Big Daddy in "Kick-Ass."
The "National Treasure" star will portray an alternate version of Peter Parker from the Marvel Noir universe. In the comics, this Peter lives in 1933, during the Great Depression, and received his powers from a spider god after releasing it from inside a statue. He then dons a costume based on an old World War 1 uniform to get revenge on Vulture for his uncle Ben's murder and to fight Norman Osborn's criminal empire.
He also joined his fellow Spider-Men in their war against the Inheritors in the "Spider-Verse" comic book arc.
Screen Rant reported that Peter Noir made his first television in the "Ultimate Spider-Man" in DisneyXD making him a perfect fit in the story. Twitter user superheroPoll posted possible Funko Pop merchandise for the film.
His presence will also alert comic book fans about other famous wall-crawlers from other universes, such as Hobbie Brown, Willam Braddock, May Day Parker, and more.
