The latest updates and spoilers for the live-action "Shazam" movie reveal the first official trailer at San Diego Comic-Con. The film stars Asher Angel and Zachary Levi as Billy Batson, a 14-year-old orphan who can transform into a powerful superhero after he shouts out the word "SHAZAM." He then tries to master his newfound abilities with the help of his comic book geek foster brother, Freddy Freeman, while stopping an evil threat perpetrated by Doctor Sivana.

Angel will play the younger Billy, while Levi will play him as an adult.

The film will be part of the second phase of the DC Extended Universe alongside "Aquaman" and "Wonder Woman 1984."

Billy Batson becomes a superhero in 'Shazam' trailer

According to Screen Rant, the "Shazam" trailer will feature the origin story of Billy Batson based on the New 52 comic book reboot. Billy, in the movie, ran away from foster homes in six counties and he is now being forced to go to another or else he will end up in a juvenile detention center.

Billy goes to a new foster home owned by the Vasquez family and meets Freddy Freeman. Freddy shows-off his collection of superhero items to him such as newspaper articles of Superman and a Batarang replica.

The next scene shows Billy saving Freddy from bullies and he gets chased down to the subway station.

He's able to escape the bullies inside a train, but he ends up in the lair of the mystical wizard named Shazam. The wizard tells Billy that he has been chosen to be his next champion and bestowed his powers on him. He can activate his powers by saying the wizard's name and becomes a superpowered adult.

Billy shared his secret with Freddie and two begin discovering Shazam's powers through a series of funny training montages.

Shazam's powers include super strength. flight, and generate magic-based lightning. He also discovers that he's bulletproof, after foiling a heist inside a convenience store.

Who is Doctor Sivana?

The "Shazam" trailer also featured the appearance of DC supervillain Doctor Thaddeus Sivana. IGN reported that Sivana will be the film's main antagonist and he is played by "Kingsman" star Mark Strong.

In the comics, Sivana is one of the smartest scientists in the DC universe and he's obsessed with finding the Rock of Eternity, the mystical source of Shazam's powers. He will exhibit superhuman abilities in the movie as he's able to block Billy's punch in the trailer. His powers can be seen in his right eye as it glows whenever he activates them.
