On Wednesday, much of the world was shocked to learn of famed American designer Kate Spade having committed suicide. The 55-year-old businesswoman co-founded and launched Kate Spade New York which became one of the most popular lines of fashionable handbags, shoes, and accessories on the planet. Upon learning of the news, people were in shock and are still processing the news. That includes a number of Celebrities who are mourning the loss and who tweeted their thoughts. In addition, Kate Spade's famous brother-in-law, actor and comedian David Spade, has finally given his thoughts on the news of his sister-in-law's death.
David Spade breaks his silence
Kate's brother-in-law is actor and comedian David Spade, as his brother Andy was married to Kate for 24 years as of Tuesday. David Spade is well known for a variety of television roles and movies. They've included "Tommy Boy," "Joe Dirt," and "Black Sheep" in theaters. On television his roles included characters on "Saturday Night Live," and then other sitcom shows such as "Just Shoot Me!" and "Rules of Engagement." The two sitcom series had extended runs on television, helping the comedian become even more mainstream than he was before.
Spade posted a photo to his Instagram to remember his sister-in-law Kate Spade while encouraging other people to "hang on" as the world can be a "crazy place."
In addition, Spade posted a photo with a caption (NSFW) on Twitter showing Kate at his book signing.
Spade's posts capture some of the great memories he had of her, as he remembered the holiday occasion they shared together. He mentioned that his sister-in-law was also "sharp and quick on her feet," a trait that Spade seems to have based on his comedic abilities. While they weren't biologically related, it's clear that this has weighed on David Spade as if he lost a biological relative.
It has affected a number of other celebrities as well including hip-hop star Kanye West.
Kanye West, other celebs pay tribute
Kanye West paid tribute to Kate Spade upon the news of her reported suicide. The hip-hop artist posted a collage of photos on his Twitter post as well as a caption expressing his love to the family upon the news of the loss.
West's post also mentions the mental health issues that Kate Spade was struggling with. The hip-hop star recently rapped about his own experiences with mental health issues on the album he released last week called "Ye."

As one can imagine, a number of other celebrities offered their thoughts and memories regarding the fashion designer. Chelsea Clinton was among them, tweeting about the first Kate Spade bag she received.

Ivanka Trump, daughter of President Donald Trump, also tweeted about Spade's death.
She mentioned how people don't always "know another's pain or burden" that they are carrying. Trump also provided a link for people who might be seeking help with mental health issues of their own.

Comedian and actress Mindy Kaling also provided her own message on Twitter regarding the news of Spade's suicide. Kaling praised the designer's contributions to fashionable wardrobes everywhere and provided her thoughts on the loss.

It's clear that Kate Spade had a wide-reaching effect on many people all over the world in many walks of life. Her contributions will not be forgotten as Kate Spade New York continues to be amongst the more popular brands on the planet. One can only hope that with many celebrities providing their thoughts on Spade's suicide, it will result in more attention toward those suffering from mental health issues.
