Are you ready for summer? This summer promises several potential blockbuster films, from action films to musicals with several sequels on the list. Some of Hollywood’s biggest franchises are ready to introduce their latest story. Pixar is even coming back with their beloved clan. This summer will be the perfect time for moviegoers to just park themselves at the movie theater all season long.
These are the five films moviegoers can’t wait to see in theaters this Summer.
5. 'Incredibles 2'
Pixar’s favorite superhero family returns to the big screen. After spending 14 years in retirement, the story begins right where the original ended. However, the roles have changed and the story is even bigger. Jack-Jack has untamed skills, Mr. Incredible is forced to be a stay home dad, and Elastigirl is taking charge.
4. 'Ant-Man and the Wasp'
Marvel is back at it again, with round two of the Ant-Man. This time Paul Rudd returns as the shrinking hero but has a partner in Evangeline Lilly as the Wasp. Michael Douglas is back as tech genius Hank Pym.
To top it all off, Pym’s long-lost wife resurfaces, who is played by Michelle Pfeiffer.
3. 'Sicario 2: Soldado'
Benicio del Toro is back as the action hero Alejandro who first appeared on Sicario, where he took on the Mexican drug cartels. This time, the CIA and Alejandro are sent in to eliminate the newly discovered problem of cartels sneaking terrorists across the US-Mexican border.
2. 'Deadpool 2'
Wise-cracking Ryan Reynolds is back as the foul-mouthed superhero Deadpool. David Leitch is in as the new director, and we’re introduced to the time-traveling Cable, played by Josh Brolin. Deadpool 2 is sure to bring us another round of gunplay, fourth-wall breaks, and plenty of blood.
1. 'Avengers: Infinity War'
This is probably the most anticipated film this summer. After ten years of Marvel superhero action, we are forced to say goodbye to some of our most beloved characters, as they face off against the ultimate villain Thanos. Nobody knows for sure who is going to die, but we know we will probably need the tissues when we watch this film. Marvel is now bringing full circle the storylines we have seen unfold over the last ten years from characters as old as Iron Man to characters as new as Dr. Strange.
All of these films are worth watching, but Marvel will definitely clean house when it comes to the box office receipts. This summer will be the time of year when we enjoy some of our beloved characters as they ride into the sunset. As we begin the Summer we are left to wonder — what could possibly top these films, next year?
