The latest updates and spoilers for the "Spider-Man: Homecoming" sequel reveal details about the film's new femme fatale character and contenders for its main villain. The Hashtag Show claimed that Marvel Studios is casting a wide net of adversaries for Peter Parker to face in his next adventure. The website also teased the possible identity of the female lead and the studio is looking for a 20-something actor who can fill out the "Bond-girl type international agent" role in the movie.
Film directors Anthony and Joe Russo talked about the evolving relationship between Peter Parker and Tony Stark during the events of "Avengers: Infinity War."
New character coming soon
According to The Hashtag Show, the new main villain is someone who has "elevated ideas" and the said role is not only open to all ethnicities, but Marvel is looking at both men and women between 30-45 to play the part.
With that in mind, comic book fans are wondering if the studio will introduce the likes of Doctor Octopus, Green Goblin, Kraven the Hunter, or the Jackal in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The first film already introduced the Vulture, Shocker, and Scorpion, and the future "Spidey" sequels will likely introduce the Sinister Six soon. As for the femme fatale character, she will be a James Bond girl type and her mystique will make Peter be more curious about her as the story progresses. The Hashtag Show speculated that she could be Jessica Drew (Spider-Woman).
In the comics, Jessica Drew gained her powers from irradiated spider blood after being exposed to uranium poisoning. She has the same powers as Peter, along with additional powers, such as organic webbing, pheromones, stinger blasts, and the ability to fly.
Jessica was also raised as a HYDRA agent in Europe, before joining SHIELD and the Avengers.
Spider-Man and Iron Man dynamic
Film directors Anthony and Joe Russo talked about the relationship between Peter and Tony in "Avengers: Infinity War" after the events of "Homecoming." Spidey will join earth's mightiest heroes and the Guardians of the Galaxy in their fight against Thanos for the infinity stones.
The Russo's told Screenrant that the bond between the two heroes will evolve and continue during the course of the film, and it will help elevate each other to do more in facing their biggest challenge yet.
"And that evolves," Anthony Russo said. "And they basically have this unique mentor-mentee relationship that continues to evolve as they move into the film." Peter will wear the Iron Spider suit that Tony built for him at the end of the "Homecoming" giving the notion that Spidey is ready to be part of something big in the MCU.
