It seems like Selena Gomez is sick of this same old (Justin Bieber) love...again. E! News reports that the on-again-off-again couple is currently off-again, "She's on a break with Justin partly because of family pressure but also because of some issues surrounding his birthday."

The battle began over birthday celebrations

Gomez reportedly wanted a quiet 24th birthday celebration with Bieber but he wanted something bigger with his friends and people from their church. And it seems like Bieber won that argument as he was seen on his birthday at lunch with his friends then took a limo ride to a go-cart racing track.

Gomez was noticeably absent from the activities. She did, however, post an Instagram acknowledging the singer's birthday.

The break does not come as a surprise to a lot of fans considering their rocky past. Also back in December, People reported that Gomez's mom Mandy Teefer voluntarily went for treatment in an L.A. hospital due to stress. Many suspected her daughter getting back together with Bieber and the strain it put on her relationship with Gomez, being the main cause of the stress. It was well known that Gomez's family seemed to not trust Bieber after his past actions.

But the two just couldn't seem to quit each other

The two began dating back in 2010 and have had an intense rocky romance since, including their slew of nasty break-ups.

But rumors that Bieber and Gomez were back together started back in November after the two were spotted on multiple public outings together, including bike riding, attending church and going to Bieber's hockey games. This reunion came almost immediately following Gomez's break-up with singer The Weekend. Apparently, Bieber reached back out to Gomez as a friend, post her kidney transplant last summer and the two were back in contact since.

While innocent at first, obviously became romantic again.

Meanwhile, Beiber's family appears to surely approve of Gomez and her relationship. She even recently attended Bieber's father's wedding in Jamaica with the family.

Despite the family drama, People reports that the two did not break because of Gomez's mom, "They have their own issues." Gomez seems to be taking this break to spend time with her loved ones and is also working on her estranged relationship with her mother.

Gomez was spotted over the weekend unwinding in her home state of Texas. She's enjoying being away and spending time with her close family and friends back in her hometown.

Bieber is still in Los Angeles, and according to Cosmopolitan, does not seem to be handling the break so well. He was seen looking "distraught" while sitting in his car, covering his face with his head down. This could also just be a reaction to not wanting to be seen by the paparazzi since Bieber is known to have a sketchy history with paparazzi photographers. He even publicly asked fans to stop asking for pictures or taking pictures of him last year.

But Jelena fans do not worry

Sources at E! News say that the two are still very much "in contact." The couple is just figuring out where to go next.

Living in such a public relationship is hard especially when coming back together and working out all of the issues from the past. There is a lot of pressure on them as a couple. But, the second source from E! News says, "They will absolutely get back together and they are not over, but they both need some time away from each other." So it appears this is not the end quite yet.
