Earlier this week, "Roseanne" made its return to television for the first time in 20 years and scored huge ratings in the process. After getting a personal congratulatory phone call from Donald Trump, Roseanne Barr decide to honor the president with questionable praise on social media.

Roseanne on Trump

It's no secret that the overwhelming majority of the celebrities in Hollywood hold liberal political views and have been outspoken with their opposition to Donald Trump.

The feud between Trump and Hollywood has only gained steam over the last year, often being highlighted on award shows like the Academy Awards and the Golden Globes. While this has been the case, Roseanne Barr has become one of the few celebrities who is publicly showing support for Trump, which carried over onto the return of her hit TV show.

Following the return of "Roseanne" last Tuesday, the program received over 18 million viewers, resulting in the show getting picked up for a second season just days later.

In response, conservatives and Trump supporters were thrilled, with liberals calling for a massive boycott. In a Tweet sent out on March 30, Roseanne had some strong words in support for the president. "President Trump has freed so many children held in bond*ge to pimps all over this world. Hundreds each month," Roseanne claimed.

"He has broken up trafficking rings in high places everywhere. notice that," she added, while concluding, "I disagree on some things, but give him benefit of doubt-4 now."

Roseanne's backlash

After Roseanne claimed Donald Trump helped save children from being held hostage by pimps, social media went viral. "...what?" Jessica Huseman of ProPublica tweeted out.

"Did he free them to pee on them? Trying to get the story straight," a sarcastic tweet wondered. "None of which is true. Not a word of it. And what's worse? You know that. You know how I know you know this Roseanne?

We got into this before, not over Trump, but over your bigotry. Why you unblocked me I've no idea. Hope you do so again because you're a garbage person," another tweet added.

"You're going to just make sh*t up now to justify your support of this t*rd-goblin aren't you?" a social media user wrote.

"WHERE IN HELL...do you come up with this BS? I'm serious. Facts Matter Cite your source(s)," a tweet went on to read. The negative reaction continued as the political divide over the return of "Roseanne" showed no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
