Time might be able to repair most wounds, including the once stormy relationship between Oliver Hudson and his biological father, Bill Hudson. In a recent interview, Oliver revealed that he and his father are on speaking terms.

Oliver Hudson mentioned his estranged dad in a recent interview

The "Splitting Up Together" star appeared this past Monday on 'Larry King Now' and one of the topics he talked about was his current relationship with father.

"Well, we're trying right now," Oliver told Larry King. "We've shot some texts back and forth."

The relationship between father and son has always been strained but a few years ago, things got explosive after Oliver posted a controversial caption on his Instagram.

Back in June 2015, Oliver Hudson posted on Father's Day a vintage photo that featured Bill, Oliver's sister, Kate Hudson, and himself. The former "Nashville" actor used the caption, "Happy abandonment day..." and tagged his actress sister in the post.

That Instagram photo went viral, and Bill Hudson could barely contain his disgust.

The musician went to the media and claimed that Oliver and Kate were dead to him.

Bill was barely in his older children's lives ever since he divorced their mother Goldie Hawn in 1980. He always claimed that Goldie alienated the children from him. The 'Snatched' actress never publicly discussed her side of the story.

In 1983, Goldie started a relationship with Kurt Russell. The two Hollywood stars never got married to each other, but they raised their blended family throughout their relationship, and are still happily together. Oliver and Kate always considered Kurt more as a dad than Bill.

Bill Hudson married actress Cindy Williams, of "Laverne and Shirley" fame, in 1982. They had two children together before divorcing in 2000.

Bill had his fifth child, a daughter named Lalania, with a long-term girlfriend in 2006.

Things might not be so bad after all

On Monday night's interview, Oliver Hudson mentioned that ever since he posted that infamous Instagram post, he and Bill's relationship didn't deteriorate, but that incident started communications between the two men again. There was no mention if Kate is also on speaking terms with her bio dad.

Oliver currently stars on ABC's "Splitting Up Together" with Jenna Fischer. The comedy series, produced by Ellen DeGeneres, debuted on March 27.
