On Sunday, March 25, 2018, 15 members of the "Riverdale" cast came together for the annual Paleyfest event in Los Angeles. But what had everyone buzzing afterward wasn't secrets for the season two finale. It was the reaction from castmates, Lili Reinhart, and Cole Sprouse after a daring fan took the stand.
Are they dating?
A question that many fans have wanted to be answered for over a year. So, when the opportunity arose during the latest Paleyfest Q&A event it didn't take long for one of those curious fans to jump on it.
"Lili and Cole, there's been lots of rumors of you guys dating.
Are you dating?"
Immediately, knowing where the question was heading, Reinhart, 21, ducked her head, shielding her blushing face with her hand. Sprouse, 25, on the other hand merely stared down the fan, jumping in to help shadow the embarrassment of his castmate with humor.
"Was that a question or a statement, because you're right."
But knowing Sprouse hadn't heard the ending question the fan made sure to make things clear by asking again, "Are you dating?"
The awkwardness could even be felt by fellow CW castmates KJ Apa and Camila Mendes as they shared a knowing look. But Sprouse dived in with confidence as he grabbed his jacket, bringing his mic close with a defiant smile as he said, "No comment."
It was an answer that fueled the excitement of both the daring fan and those of the entire room.
Rumors
Lili and Cole started rumors among their fans when they were first spotted making out at Comic-Con last July and again when they were seen on a movie date a month later. But it was when they were photographed on vacation together in Hawaii that realistic suspicions were sparked once again between the two castmates. Not to mention the picture Sprouse posted on his Instagram of a blonde that looks awfully similar to Reinhart.
Sealed Lips
Regardless of what has too many clues to ignore it becomes clear that these two are not willing to let the public in on their romance. Especially not when it comes to Sprouse.
"Whether you dismiss these rumors or whether you encourage these rumors, it's giving people who are in my opinion a bit entitled to your personal life more power." Sprouse then goes on to explain to People, "And you have to have space for reverence in the industry...so I just never talk about it because it's not anyone's right to know."
But that doesn't mean Bugheads around the country aren't waiting for the day he changes his mind.
Until then, it seems fans of Reinhart and Sprouse will just have to be patient and wait for any chance at a sneak peak of their romance. Fingers crossed for another vacation or subtle social media post!
