The final season of the HBO hit show is gearing up to be as epic as the rest of the series. Photos and videos emerged from the set this week, suggesting some shocking twists that fans won't be prepared for. The biggest news, however, appears to be lifted from what the set itself looks like -- or what it once looked like, anyway. It appears that everything is going to be burning during Season 8.

Spoilers from the set

The Winterfell set looked lit this week. Literally, by all appearances, it was on fire. Videos and images were leaked on the internet, showing a huge flame engulfing what's believed to be the "Game of Thrones" set in Northern Ireland. It seems highly unlikely that this is some sort of optical illusion, since it was captured by multiple people. Instead, it appears that Winterfell burns in Season 8. Last season, we saw a lot from the dragons, and now, with the Night's King in possession of his own reanimated dragon, things are sure to get interesting in the upcoming season.

Take a look at this photo, ostensibly of the burning set.

The picture certainly gives off an apocalyptic vibe for what's to come. Earlier during the week, there were reports and leaks of smoke coming from the "Game of Thrones" set. Perhaps the smoke was evidence of some sort of battle that ends with a conflagration that destroys Winterfell. Where there's smoke, there's fire, right?

Theories abound as to what the spoiler may actually imply. The most obvious theory relates to Zombie Viserion. Sure, his fire breath is blue, but there's still so much that remains unknown about the character's powers. A more logical theory, perhaps, relates to Daenerys' dragons. Perhaps she decided it was time to end Winterfell as we know it and begin a new reign.

The only thing clear from this spoiler is that Season 8 is going to be fiery.

"Game of Thrones" fans have been officially put on notice.

So when is Season 8?

The biggest mystery relating to the final season of "Game of Thrones" is when it will actually come out. There have been widespread reports suggesting leaks from several of the actors, all of which have proven to be unfounded. Filming began in October, but isn't expected to end until the final months of 2018. That means the shortened six episode Season 8 won't air until 2019 at the earliest.

Until then, all we can do is feast on whatever spoilers come our way. Season 8 of "Game of Thrones" is sure to be epic, with the anticipation more than likely making it worth the wait.
