Jane Fonda is undergoing another battle with cancer and fears she will lose her looks due to scarring and treatment according to Hollywood News Daily reports. Jane Fonda was recently spotted out wearing a huge bandage covering surgery scars following surgery to remove a cancerous spot below her bottom lip.

Those closest to Fonda claim that since the surgery Jane has been very concerned that the skin cancer surgery will leave a pretty nasty scar on her face. They claim that Jane Fonda, 80, has always been very concerned with her appearance and fears that a nasty scar could also interfere with her career.

Jane Fonda's cancer due to sun exposure

During a recent interview with the press, Jane felt compelled to explain the bandages on her face stating that she does not normally go out like this, and thought she would have healed sooner.

This is not Jane Fonda's first ordeal with cancer. In 2010 the actress went through a scary ordeal with breast cancer. HND reports that internist Dr. Stuart Fischer stated that skin cancer is one of the easiest forms of cancer to treat - if found and treated soon enough. Fonda's unfortunate battle with skin cancer comes from years of overexposure to the sun and lack of sunscreen use. However, Fonda is not the only celebrity to have faced scary skin cancer diagnoses in the past few years.

Other well-known stars who have also undergone treatment include, "Shameless" star William H. Macy, Brooke Sheilds, Hugh Jackman, and Ryan O'Neal to name a few.

Skin cancer cases total over 3 million a year

Skin cancer is nothing to play around with. While it is preventable and curable if left untreated it is also potentially fatal.

In the United States, there are more than 3 million cases of skin diagnosed each year. Hopefully, Jane Fonda caught the skin cancer in its early stages. Symptoms of skin cancer include noticeable changes in the lesions that do not heal, and changes in existing moles, such as jagged edges to the mole and enlargement of the mole.

Ways to reduce chances of skin cancer include avoiding sunburning, wearing protective clothing, sunglasses, and hats, and attempting to avoid sun exposure or periods of peak exposure and tanning beds. One of the most important things to remember when dealing with the sun is always to remember to use sunscreen and reapply several times a day.

Jane Fonda fans can see Jane in her popular Netflix original series "Frankie and Grace " with costar Lilly Tomlin. The comedy "Franke and Grace" revolves around the lives of two very different women who bond when their husbands of several years announce to them they are gay and plan to marry. Their husbands are played by Sam Waterson and Charlie Sheen's father Martin Sheen.

The hit Netflix original first aired on May 8, 2015, and is now currently in its fourth season which began streaming on January 19. We wish Jane Fonda the very best for a full and speedy recovery as she continues to diligently undergo her battle with skin cancer.
