A special tribute was paid to Kirk Douglas, a veteran of Hollywood, at the Golden Globe awards. It was for his long distinguished career, and his daughter-in-law Catherine Zeta Jones was on the stage with him. The occasion was the presentation of an award, and she took the opportunity to pay tribute to the veteran Hollywood legend.
It may be recalled that he was instrumental in ending the Hollywood Blacklist and earned recognition for it. This blacklist was about denying work to those who were believed to have Communist ties.

The parents of Kirk Douglas were Russian immigrants and, since he had an interest in acting, he joined an academy in New York on a scholarship to learn the intricacies of acting. Corral” saw him as ‘Doc’ Holliday while in “Spartacus” he was in the title role. “Lonely Are the Brave” was a cowboy movie and Kirk was the cowboy Jack Burns, and “Tough Guys” was a comedy in which he was a gangster named Archie Long.
