It looks like Carice van Houten subtlety confirmed the return of Melisandre in “Game of Thrones” Season 8 in a now-deleted post on her Instagram page. Not only that, she also seems to reveal an important scene happening in the season finale.
Fans last saw the Red Woman in the previous season of the critically acclaimed HBO series. To recall, she had left to go on her way to Volantis after she managed to convince Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) to meet Jon Snow (Kit Harington). She then promised to return and assured that she will die in Westeros.
The deleted video
A Reddit user named EveryFckingChicken revealed the content of Carice van Houten’s deleted video. Allegedly, the 41-year-old star was driving in the middle of the night on a UK road. As noticed, she was heading on the southward of Belfast, where Linen Mill Studios is located.
This studio is said to be used to film “Game of Thrones” major locations like Winterfell. With that, it might be safe to assume that Melisandre will be coming to visit the House of Stark’s ancestral home. This, too, could mean a reunion of her, Jon Snow, and Daenerys.
The final season’s spoilers
HBO has been keeping things under wraps about “Game of Thrones” Season 8. And, it is successfully achieving that.
However, spoilers still manage to get through.
Most of the final season of George R.R. Martin’s “A Song of Ice and Fire” television adaptation is said to be filming in Ireland. This place has been used subsequently in Winterfell, lands of the Eyrie, and Riverlands’ scenes. Currently, the show is in production at Moneyglass, Northern Ireland.
Here, the staff and crew have heavily renovated the Winterfell set’s exterior. But, it looks like the “got S8’s premiere episode will not be filmed here.
According to the fansite Watcher’s on the Wall, the first episode will be located in a village just right outside the Winterfell castle – the Winter Town. This is the place where Brienne (Gwendoline Christie) and Podrick (Daniel Portman) waited for Sansa (Sophie Turner) to light the Broken Tower in Season 5.
Also, this is where the village brothel is located that Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) has visited in Season 1. The Winter Town is said to have a seasonal population and people from the North are just coming to visit here to escape the uncontrolled coming of winter. Now, it is a big question what is going to happen here.
HBO has yet to announce the official release date of “Game of Thrones” Season 8, but it has revealed that it will be later shown in 2019.
