Alicia Keys is returning to "The Voice" for Season 14. She will take the red chair that is now being occupied by Jennifer Hudson. Fans of the NBC show are elated about the news. In the meantime, Hudson will return to "The Voice UK" where she was the winning coach earlier this year.
"The Voice" is known for rotating its coaches who all have different coaching styles. Blake Shelton and Adam Levine are the only two who have remained on the show for all 13 seasons. No matter who has come and gone, they have been there since the series began airing on April 26, 2011.
The network confirmed that Alicia will be back in 2018 along with newcomer Kelly Clarkson. They will be coaches along with Blake and Adam. Clarkson will probably give Levine a run for his money because the 35-year-old first "American Idol" winner is just as competitive as he is.
Jennifer Hudson
Comments on social media indicate that most fans are delighted to see Alicia return and Jennifer leave. One viewer who stopped watching the show said she will watch it again after Jennifer leaves. The decision was made after Jennifer has been a coach for only half of a season. Jennifer confirmed earlier this month before the official announcement was made that she would return to the British version of "The Voice." Apparently, the 36-year-old singer is more popular as a coach in the UK than here in the United States.
Blake teased Jennifer that she won in the UK, but this is the US. Her coaching style seems to be missing something. She appears to lack the charisma that Alicia has with the contestants and with the other coaches. It was reported that Jennifer was asked to tone it down a bit.
Alicia Keys
Alicia took this season off to spend time with her family and to work on new music.
The 36-year-old singer did release her sixth album while she was away. It is called "Here" and it has a No. 1 hit on the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
The winner of 15 Grammys will be returning for her third time. She is coming back as a champion because her artist Chris Blue was the winner of Season 12. Paul Telegdy, NBC Entertainment President of Alternative and Reality Group, described Alicia as having positive energy, a competitive spirit, and sheer talent.
Her fans agree that assessment.
Miley Cyrus
Miley Cyrus returned this season after taking one season off. However, she will not be back next season. Earlier this month, the 24-year-old singer told Howard Stern that she doesn't plan to appear again after this season ends.
