Mal Young is the new head writer/executive producer on "The Young and the Restless" and his presence is already strongly being felt. His first episode aired on October 25 and the pace has remained pretty fast. Young flipped the script regarding Victoria Newman and her illness is now related to toxins rather than a brain tumor.
He may also change the direction of the love triangle that revolves around Hilary with Devon. Both Jordan and Mariah have been hovering without making any real progress in any direction. If Hilary and Devon get back together this would free their current lovers to seek romance elsewhere, and remove several very boring storylines.
Mal Young is moving things in Genoa City
Spoilers from Celeb Dirty Laundry indicate that things are going to go in an unexpected direction with Hilary and Jordan. These two are only toying with each other because they are unable to have the objects of their desire, namely Devon and Lily. Even though Ms. Curtis/Hamilton is not truly in love with her boy toy, she cannot stand the thought of losing him to Lily. This is why she has put so much energy into pushing Cane to save his marriage.
In an interview with "Soap Opera Digest," Mal Young indicated he is taking "The Young and the Restless" in a different direction. He also stated that he wanted Devon and Neil to have more screen time. One way to do this would be to dissolve the misery-laden relationship Mr.
Hamilton has with Mariah whose affections seem to be elsewhere. Devon and Hilary have chemistry and viewers probably would enjoy seeing them play off of each other as they did before the divorce.
Jordan's past may push Hilary and Devon together
Spoilers indicate that Hilary is going to do some snooping into Jordan's past. Whatever she finds may cause her to sever the ties she has to this young man.
If whatever she uncovers ends up negatively affecting her show, she may need Devon's shoulder to cry on. One thing that is certain is that Mal Young is removing the sense of predictability on the show because who would ever have suspected Victoria face masks would be tampered with.
For just this reason Y&R fans should expect the unexpected when it comes to Jordan and the Hamiltons.
It has been hinted at for a while now by spoilers that Chelsea and Jordan know some deep dark secrets about each other, so perhaps the truth will finally be revealed.
