"The Originals" season 5 is bringing special treats to its audience, including the much-awaited appearance of Caroline Forbes-Salvatore (Candice King). Not too long after The CW and series showrunner Julie Plec confirmed the participation of the fan-favorite character, theories quickly pointed out her possible reunion with Niklaus Mikaelson (Joseph Dean Morgan).

In The Original series "The Vampire Diaries," team "Klaroline" was an item despite the fact that their romance was only short-lived. Now that Caroline has been invited to "The Originals" future, numerous fan-made predictions claim that their past romance may likely bloom as they head into the new season.

'Klaroline' heads to Europe: Here's why

It is not yet known if the anticipated reunion will match fans' expectations. It was reported earlier that "The Vampire Diaries" alum has been put there for a greater purpose, and this doesn't sound like an intimate reunion with Niklaus.

As quoted in Entertainment Weekly, “Caroline and Klaus cross paths in Europe after Rebekah, unable to visit Klaus herself due to their magical predicament, asks for Caroline’s help with an intervention of sorts." During the finale episode of "The Originals" season 4, the Mikaelson siblings were forced to stay away from each other for eternity in order to keep Hope (now played by Danielle Rose Russell) safe from being attacked by The Hollow.

With that, it seems as though King's character will be helping the original family find a way to communicate with each other without having to break the rule. It has been speculated that Niklaus will be on a killing spree after he realizes that he has lost everything, including his precious daughter.

Caroline's role in show's future

During the last-minute scene of "The Originals" season 4 finale, Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) enrolls Hope to the Salvatore School. It looks like Mystic Falls will serve as the safe zone of the Mikaelson family as they seek for help from the resting vampires in town, including Caroline and Alaric Saltzman (Matthew Davis).

While everything remains under wraps for now until the series returns next year, Plec previously hinted a few details about Caroline's role in the new season. The 45-year-old producer/writer revealed that this crossover character has a lot of help to offer for the people around her, especially for Niklaus, who will have a hard time coping with his current situation.

"The Originals" season 5 will return to the small screens in 2018.
