“The Originals” Season 5 concluded on June 23, 2017. The 13-episodes-long series ended on an unsatisfactory note. CW Productions were quick to confirm that a fifth season is in the making. The next installment is going to witness three major actors of the show take on roles of directing episodes, a report by International Business Times suggests.

What do reports suggest?

The report states that Joseph Morgan, who plays Klaus Mikaelson in the show, will be majorly directing most episodes of “The Originals” season 5.

The show’s producer, Carina MacKenzie confirmed this news at this year’s Comic-Con event in San Diego. It was also further revealed that Daniel Gillies and Charles Michael Davis, who play the roles of Elijah and Marcel respectively, will also be directing some of the episodes. It’s not the first time that actors have taken on directorial responsibilities for “The Originals.” All three of them have had their share of directing multiple segments of the show, particularly episodes of season 3 and 4.

In an interview with Collider back in June, Daniel Gillies said that Davis and Morgan are very “intimate” with the mythology. Thus, they like to be an integral part of it.

Characters and cast details

Hope’s character was played by child-actor, Danielle Rose Russell. “The Originals” season 5 is going to witness Hope grow into a teenager. Danielle will, therefore, be replaced by Summer Fontana. Hope’s mother Hayley, who is played by actor Phoebe Tonkin will also be part of next season.

She is going to be shown as moving on from Elijah and dating “a sexy Irish chef.” Torrance Coombs, who has been hired to play the role of Declan aka Reign, will also be a part of the show. His journey to discovering supernatural abilities will take up much of season 5’s screen time. Hayley will also be seen getting closer to Reign. There is still some hope for Hayley and Elijah.

“The Originals” Executive Producer, Julie Plec hinted towards a possible reunion between the two.

At San Diego Comic-Con, Plec said that she loves Hayley and Elijah and she hopes they can find peace “in eternity.” She further added that she doesn’t know how quickly that will take place, but it is not something that she will take lightly. A new bunch of vampires is expected to be introduced in “The Originals” season 5. They will probably bring more trouble to the Mikaelson family. Rumors suggest that the fate of many characters will be decided in the upcoming season.
